everything is fine with the rear , i checked the bearings recently and put new fluid in etc. i did not overfill..
why does the rear overflow from the vent tube? what is that a sign of? my vent tube is about 8" straight up from the port on the left axle tube and pukes gear oil on my rear end, exhaust and suspension.. it sucks..
can i cap it off? what are the downsides of doing so?

Is it coming out the tube or leaking through the threads? I would put some teflon tape around the threads, mine leaks there too.
How many quarts of gear lube did you use?

My knowledge of Moser is next to nothing but 3 quarts of lube seems way too much to me, 3 maybe 4 pints yes but 3 quarts?

they said that the only reason it could be overflowing is because it is overfilled..
standard level is 3 quarts total INCLUDING the posi additive, that may be where i went wrong. he said that or up to the bottom of the fill hole, whichever comes first.
so i will refill with their suggested 85-90 mineral oil and posi additive and clean everything off and try again.
its just wierd that it took 20k miles to gradually become overfilled <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Matter of fact, I just drained a 12 bolt Moser with the TA rear cover and it only filled a large Folgers coffee can, about 2/3 of the way. This rear end had no leaks so, I know it wasn't low.

I just walked inside from installing my 12 bolt. It took EXACTLY 2 quarts of fluid with the additive. As soon as I put the tube of the 3rd qt to the hole, oil started coming out of the hole.
