Nobodys hating or eating there own lol...it is what it is .. the new camaro has some serious power but its a yacht. Id take one in a heartbeat but for the price theres a few more cars id consider first. One being the new GT

 

Getting back on track, Camaro vs. mustang is like comparing women. She can always lose a few lbs. but you can't fix ugly.

I just want to interject one thing on Gen 4 vs. Gen 5...

My 99 Z A4 laid down 380/380 on Straightline's dyno...that car with me in was 3660 and without a doubt would have been in the high 11's.

My current 2SS M6 laid down 390/368 on the same dyno and there is no way in hell the car is anyhwere near the 11s.

Gen 5 is a better all around car, but yes...weight is the issue without question. To relate it to the Mustang/Camaro point of this thread, the Mustang is several hundred pounds lighter which is why it's going to be quite the battle tween the new SS and the new 5.0.

My goal is to get the 10' into the 11s.....stay tuned

This is true but a lot of people must concur in light of the new camaro's sales.

 

i think 5th gens are great looking cars. ive talked to alot of non car people and theyve remarked how nice they look. i even think v6 versions look nice and historically theyve had a "cheaper" look to them.


i still think 4th gen SSs and ws6s have aged well though and are good cars to buy to hook up.

 

was at bowling green last night. how can ANY 2010 ss run 14.4's. when a 1995 lightly bolt on stang was running 13.8 @ 98. i watch ONE SS eun a 13.2, 13.4, and the rest were 14.0-14.4. how can that happen. it just does. go to camaro5.com and ASK the guys running those 2.5 60' times.the fastest 2010 SS trap was 106. im not busting them out. conditions sucked. drivers were inexperienced. does that mean the CAR is slow and only has 350hp? nope.


BTW the fastest f body was a gen IV trans-am vert a bunch of 13.1's.

 

so my only experience seeing gen V f bodys by REAL people at the track is a bunch of 14's and a guy who can drive low 13's.

the class of the streets was a 1970 GSx turbo. he ran 12.01 at 117mph all night. bet eh runs well nito the 11's on a better night.

 

there was a maggie'd and nitrous'd 2010SS with drag radials there.......he got shut down and rolled back off the track......he was running his A/C at the line. dripped water everywhere. nice. i tried to engage them in some chat. they only wanted to pat each other on the back for their bad-*** cars and not talk to anyone. they are a 'click'. ill never try to talk again to gen V guys. at least earlier camaro guys are regular racers.

if im gonna race gen V guys it will be at the track from a dig with the 2011GT.

this whole 2010SS thting is starting to remind me of trailer queen Supra turbos. there was one at the track saturday. he couldnt even get a run down. he nearly wrecked every time. but i bet he had 1200rwhp.

 

The average gen 5 owner is a tool. I've said it 1000 times. Just glance at some c5 threads.

 

well ok, guys. a lot of us have been doing this a long time and we all understand ford vs. chevy thing as a fun time harassing friends. WHO IS BUYING these new 2010 SS's? they arent normal car guys. im not putting every one of them in that group. do they really think everyone is slower. do they think it really matters how much hp you make if you cant even put 300 down, and all they can do is roll race. i admit i built the turbo for just that. but i dont publish kills. i just do it to attack the heros in their unbeatable cars. knock them down an notch. if i lose so what. these new breed of guys are living and dying to what everyone on the 'net' thinks. IMO they make themselves a target of everyone by being so arrogant.

A lot of guys trying to recapture their youth. They have driven accords and camry's for 20 years and now have a "muscle car". Trust me, I completely understand. The enthusiasts opinion about the car has suffered because of this. It drives me nuts. I try to talk to people about my car and a lot of people have a bad attitude about it that it's heavy or slow because they see them run high 13's or beat one at stop light. It's the people you mentioned that **** me off that run 14.0's and slap each other on the ***. Some 5th gen people are like vette guys. It just makes my life a little harder.

OK, who pulled the ricer fly-by on a white Cobra ragtop in the black SS with black factory wheels on I-4 last night?

 

Brand new model, does it every time. I like both just fine, but I won't be basing any purchase on looks alone. That's a move for teenage girls, not real car enthusiasts.

 

My guess is the new 5.0 is going to bring a lot of those same people into the Mustang world, with memories of Vanilla Ice... HAHAHA Word to your mother...
