thing is a tune/intake 5th gen isnt going to hit 11s.at least not on stock tires. thats a fact and a street race isnt going to change that.

I never said it would hit 11's nor did I dismiss anything. The fact is that I have never been beaten by one. If you choose to use a gutted bolt-on LS1 with a suspension on a prepped track as the bench mark for all bolt-on LS1's then your are very narrow minded. The majority of bolt-on LS1's are high to mid 12 second cars, period.

youre the one that said until you experience it a bolt on ls1 is as fast as an ls3 SS. so whos being narrow minded?


just admit its possible for a bolt on ls1 to beat a lighted modded ls3 5th gen.

Tell us what does your car run, I'm in the 10.5x range, lighter wheels & tires will get me another couple of 10th's & I'll still have less money in my car than yours & have enough money left over to get a 1LT Camaro to sit in the yard. I've shown you mine, now show me yours. If you are running in the 9's I have a lowly little 99 Z28 with a STOCK CI 346 LS1 in it, over full weight car, 3800+ with me in it & still 5.7 liters, ac, leather, pw, pl, stereo.

I have yet to run into a 5th gen that wanted to play . Haven't seen a 5.0 in town yet. I had a modded Accord try to antagonize until we stopped and he heard the cam. This town isn't any fun.

This is a Mustang GT/Camaro thread but since you are calling me out I'll talk about my car on this post but please keep future comments to pms. BTW a GT just ran 10s with Gears,, NO TUNE, Tires, stock filter, stock cats and a 100 shot. Oh I know what 1SS and 2SS stand for.


LOL Sounds like you have a pretty fast Camaro . I'd love to see your dyno sheet. . Don't worry about my driving my Dad owned a transmissions and mechanic shop. I have been racing highly modified fast N/A, Nitrous and blower cars for probably longer than you have been alive. More than 35 years anyway. If I were you I would bring your bottles cause you ain't fast enough and I won't leave mine at home either. That 712 dyno is with stock 3.25 pulley and no nitrous. I'll be going 10% over drive IW lower pulley and a 2.875 upper pulley and pushing the boost up some. And a nano systems nitrous set up shot size yet to be determined as soon as I find the time to install it. I plan to stop at around 850hp on this stock block but we will see.I'm a professional and my time is at a premium to me and this is just a hobby so I don't get to get to the track more than 3-4 times a year but I stay in practice on the streets.. And its fishing season now anyway.....

BTW This is Chris' car and my car has the same mods and makes within 10 whp of each other when he ran in the 9.9 in this video. He ran a 9.6 with a Whipple also so much for blower Shelbys not being able to launch. [Chis had stock shocks at that time] Chris started racing his dyno queen last fall. He has moved on to a Whipple 4.0 now and E85 to chase 8's but this will give you an idea what a Whipple 2.9 can do. I'm not really interested in going much faster for a street car.. I know there are faster cars out there but I'm happy with my car plus the mods soon to be on for now. .Whipple 2.9

Sorry about the diversion but Damn a GT in the 10's with very very few mods thats cheap racing.

I just paid as much for a cam as I would for a complete nitrous system. Some cam only GTO's are in the 10's (although rare). Doesn't suprise me that a lighter car with a better suspension setup could make it into 10's with nitrous.

Nitrous from Camaro5:

OrangeChevy - 10.28 @ 134.26 mph, (Nitrous/200 shot, LT, Exhaust, CAI, Tune, Skinny's, DR's, Tune), (LS3, M6)

These are the records for the year, I think the Mustang has the edge given that the bolt-on cars have longtubes. I think OrangeChevy's car possibly had a cam in it for that 10.28 run but that's what it says on Camaro5's website. This just shows how close they are in terms of performance. The two 5.0 cars that are in the tens are driven about as good as they can be with the lightest drag wheel setup possible, I don't see their times being improved by much.

I don't know any info on what the DA was for the Camaro passes, could have been mineshaft air for all I know.

Even if OrangeChevy's car had a cam in it, I don't see the mustang beating that ET for the same cost.

Cam = $750
Longtubes = $1000
Catback/X-pipe = $500
Nitrous = $750
Drag Wheels = $1500

Total ~$4500 for 10.28 @134

I'd be inclined to think that given equal mods, the Camaro's 6.2 is going to come out on top due to its superior displacement. I'm just happy that Ford finally quit resting on its sales laurels and gave the Mustang some actual power. The '11 is one bad b*tch. I'm gonna need to raise my game here soon.

Opps typo. Actually the N/A with mods and no headers the GT ran 11.65 Same car and mods plus 100 shot it ran 10.88. So its even worse.
