It seems the 2011 Mustang Gt's performance was "Inflated" vs 2010 Camaro

Anyway, the point is that the SS would do better 1/4 times with that gear option, like the GT. No offense for any Ford or GM fanboys here; Ford was smarter than GM to offer this kind of option.

So not standard, thank you. Option or not, this Mustang is still factory stock.

The new Mustang's numbers are pretty impressive and make for good competition with the SS .... But what do you honestly think will happen when you compare the new Mustang modded vs the Camaro modded .... I highly doubt it will put up much of a fight with an evenly geared Camaro with a modded LS3 .... I just don't see that happening !

The 2011 GT will be a force to be reckoned with.
Here are some new times from a lightly modified 2011 Mustang
Just posted on Evolution Performance FaceBook.
First 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L 4V in The 11's!
11.98 @ 117MPH with a 1.67 60ft
11.85 @ 117MPH with a 1.64 60ft
11.82 @ 118MPH with a 1.63 60ft,
All three runs were done within 24 minutes,
Off-Road X-Pipe, Catback Exhaust System, K&N Drop In Filter,clutch, and a Custom Tune, M/T's!

Camaro has went 11.7 with similar mods on stock suspension. Not a lot of people doing this kind of thing with the camaro so far. Only 2 guys running decent times doing this on camaro5. 11.7 and 11.8.
The cars are still very close even mod for mod.
BTW...this track is known for being faster than everything else.

Another thing to consider, the mustang has a solid axle, which is obviously a big advantage at the drag strip. Look at the pic of the 5.0 mustang pulling the wheels running high 11's. This will not happen with the camaro's IRS. This is the main advantage the mustang has at the drag strip. I don't have the info in front of me but I'm pretty sure the bolt on 2010 camaros running high 11's were probably running 60' times in the 1.8x range, not 1.6x like the Mustang is doing. Not trying to take away from the mustangs solid performance, but I think it is really no surprise it is easier to launch that car. That is the main drawback of the IRS.
I am impressed by the mph it is running though, I have to admit, but on street tires I don't see a big difference between the Camaro and the 5.0 Mustang. I am curious to see the first cam swap, I think that is going to be where the 5.0 cant keep up with the LS3. Between the cost of 4 cams and the already agressive cam profile, I don't think it will be very worthwhile.

I had similar power levels in my 98 camaro and I was ALL OVER the road. It was literally impossible to launch properly on the street. You would have to ride the hell out of the clutch to get anything decent with that car. My current car is still very controllable at 435rwhp.
I have no doubt that in the average street situation on street tires/factory rims/suspension on both cars my 10ss could stay right with a h/c LS1 due to the traction issue. Both having traction...NO...my 98 was still noticeably faster....3-4 cars. Moral of the story?....it may have IRS...but it gets some pretty good grip for what it is.

The camaros running 11's were running 1.6-1.7 60ft times as well. The new camaro can hook very well. The mustang is going to run camaro times with 20-30 less hp due to its weight advantage. The only time the camaro will start getting an edge NA will be after a cam swap IMO.

That is better than I thought they were getting off the line. I see so many people with 2.3 60' times I thought 1.6 was impossible.

I would also think this would be rather costly at this point in the game and quality would probably be an issue with the early units.
Done right I think the SRA would be better for the strip do doubt...but street/strip daily driver im not sure its the best option right now all things considered.
