you missed the point...and yes my car is optioned exactly the way I want it lol. Im not sure how you bought a new SS for 30k when they sell for that and some used. Either way nice buy!

I paid $29,200 out the door for my 1SS last June. It has the RS package, sunroof, and a trunk mat for options.

I paid a tick over 30k for mine, before tax, with the RS package and the boston stereo, plus the $495 3 stage paint.

Better do some more research. I paid 29 and change for an LS3/manual car with electronics package which is seats/cruise/steering controls etc. brand new.
It ran 13 teens at 110 in 95 degree heat with a DA of 2600 feet with 2.0 60's. I can bet on sea level 12.7X's in 60 degree weather and more miles and seat time. See my point?

1SS was hard to find but mine was on the lot. Salesman stated they can't sell sticks and never sold a cloth SS before.

I have done plenty of research...you got a deal, awsome for you! The price you paid is damn near what they are going for used around here. Whats the weight savings of a 1ss compared to a 2ss?

I've never really looked for or seen specs but its probably not much in weight but alot in value. Most SS' are just at or over 40K, no way I was spending that.

Honestly the difference is probably under 40lbs.

It's around 40 lbs. HUD, seat heaters, leather being the only significant differences weightwise

My car doesn't have HUD or back up sensors so 4 pack gauges, bluetooth, PDIM, seat heaters and auto dimming mirrors are about the only difference.

I think this sums up people complaints about the girth of the 5th Gen pretty well.

This is next to a car that was considered porky back in it's heyday when it first came out.

The mustang in the back is like DAM i dont wanna mess with them!!

LOL@ someone who cant read......

If you read, or understood what I said, I said 4th gens lack of rigidity is the cause for handling issues, not it's technically superior front suspension....

Same can be said that you haven't ran into the right 5th gen. 99.5% of all 5th gens aren't the right 5th gen either. Most of the cars I have ran have been my friends on mikey's or nitto's both auto and 6 speed with decent drivers. The 4th gens out 60' by a bit but the 5th gen comes right around with mph. ****, I was door to door with an MS4 cammed 99 SS from a 40 roll. I've ran a 12.4 on a stock street tire. I don't know how you guys can knock that. Weight reduction and a decent tire and my goal is 11's.

LOL @ 4th gen and chassis rigidity in the same sentence.
5th gens dont mph at all.... not from every one ive seen at the track....

Was that with the 698 rwhp nitrous motor you grenaded?

Is that what it takes for a 5th gen to run 11.29@ 129??????

I think it's fine, but make things options that folks don't want, and options for things folks do want, like a built-in iPad mount/integration. Everyone's different with unique desires in a car.

Lightbulb

You can change a lot of the 4th Gen road noise by adding thick floor mats from Lloyds and this new carpet:

http://www.stockinteriors.com/AutoCa...d=5&ModelId=71

Just get the Ultra Plush Cut Pile with the Mass Backing options and there's a much quieter 4th Gen. Add Koni shocks, welded subframe connectors and then you have a much nicer riding car.

I agree that the 5th Gens are a very refined ride.

At over 130 mph the car is as smooth as glass. Try 130 mph in a 4th gen and tell me what it sounds like in the cabin LOL (I had one...the windows suck in and it sounds like your in a space shuttle lol.)
