#142
I wont buy ford...
That said I'll go for whichever (challenger or Camaro) has room for three car seats, a big trunk and convertible.
I want to haul the wife and kids around, be able to take suitcases and golf clubs
Looks like a challenger is the only option for me right now...

ls3 for me. got big plans for it alredy
GMPP should have a crate 454 LSX with the ls7 6 bolt heads, ready to bolt in
and a tuned pcm AS AN OPTION and offer a warranty thru GM.
makes ense to me.
purchase base v8 model, 5.3 i would assume and for a few grand.
let them install the engine and reflash the pcm.
hell it dont even have to be forged. the ls7 doesnt come with forged pistons anyway, the nodular iron crank has been know to turn over 7krpm making over 1000hp with fi and not come apart. they should make a 4.-4.125 stroke
version of the same material used for ls1 3.622 crank.
jsut throwing some ideas out there.
i would rather pay gm for a upgrade such as this, instead of hunting down a local shop, or tuner. who knows what kind of service or products u will receive.

As for the LS7 being around 13k for the engine itself and LS8/LS9 if like the LS7, will cost around the same. With that being said, I think that a model with these engines will be a limited edition and have numbers produced around less the current z06's. As for 2007 being the last year for LS2, the next thing in line is the LS3. I hope for that to it.

Knowing me I will end up with a Firebird and a SRT Challenger...side by side in my garage....in front of my SRT Maggie and by good old TA.....yup!
As far as GM is concerned, the new GTO is the new Firebird. Personally I think that if they built a Firebird concept that was of a totally different design than the Camaro, I think they could sell all three, especially considering the Solstice is so hard to come by.
But a rebadged Camaro, with a different grill just isn't going to sell well, and GM knows that

I wouldnt hold my breath on the mustang. I doubt 390hp out of a 5.0 3 valve, maybe 350hp. Hell, I don't understand why they dont used a stroked 5.4 block instead of stroking the smallest mod block they have. No comparison between challenger and camaro.
BTW, Im leaving the mustang world in 2009. I like a motor that can be made more powerful without costing an arm and leg.

There is no way Chevy would make an LS7 camaro! As much as I'd be number 1 on that waiting list to get one, Chevy wouldn't do it. Has nobody realized that Chevy always puts the "detuned" Corvette engine in the high performance Camaros. LT1 vette's had 300hp, LT1 Camaro Z-28s had 275hp. LS1 Vettes had 350, LS1 Camaro SS had 325, when they came out with the Z06 they didn't all of the sudden start putting that in that SS. If Chevy put the LS7 in the Camaro ZL1 or SS then who the hell would buy a base line LS3 corvette? Only a handfull of corvette enthusiasts, and the people that buy corvettes bc they're fast would be buying the Camaro with the LS7. Even if Chevy did produce an LS7 'camaro, it wouldn't be 40K!!!!!! They wouldn't produce a car that is cheaper and faster than its flagship corvette! GOD I HOPE IM WRONG BC I WANT A LS7 CAMARO SO BADDDDD!!!!!

I was under the impression that the 5.4 was a stroked 4.6. I might be wrong though. Ford knows what its doing with the mustang its a good car with a good history. I still wanna see how the redesign goes before i make a final conclusion. However right now my plan is to buy a Camaro a couple years after its been out, hopefully a bumblebee edition.
