Hello im currently in the market for a new car come this summer. I currently drive a 4.0 v6 mustang but im looking to upgrade in the power department. I have narrowed my search to two main choices, a c5 z06 corvette and the new ls2 gto.
From what I understand they both make about the same amount of power but the vette is about a second faster when it boils down to the quarter mile. Ive driven a c5 z06 vette and I was impressed with the power unfortunately I have not driven a new gto yet.
If you were in my position what would you do?

i would go with the vette... the goat is like a tank.. vette would be hella faster and handle like 4x's better

If your a sedan guy and need back seats get the GTO, if its soul purpose is a sports car get the Z06

Depends....how are you going to use your new car? DD? Do you have kids? You can actually fit a kid in the back of a GTO. If you are buying this car for a toy, get the Zo6.

I gave up my Vette for a GTO. I needed back seats.

I can't wait to have another 31xx pound coupe in my garage.

Im currently a college student so i need the room. I graduate in 2010. I figure with the trade in value and the money i have now i can buy a GTO and be virtually debt free. The car will be a daily driver but I still want a monster.

I went from a C5 to the GTO, performance wise the Vette will be better, unless the clutch gives you fits, then you will go broke.

Vette no question for me. But it really depends on what you're looking for out of the car. They are completely different.

vette if you want a sportscar and you don't need seats

gto if you want a comfy quick daily driver and you need rear seats..also gto will have less of a loan on it vettes usually go for 5-10K more on average for a nice C5Z

hmm if college student people might hate you for having a vette, plus would you use the rear seats for friends that dont have cars? might want to reconsider the goat, or a bird.

Like I said I drive a v6 mustang now and I want something thats alot faster. For the money the GTO looks like the best bet. Unfortunately though I havent driven one yet. Would it be similar to an LS1 Trans Am?

yeah, if i were you, i would keep the v6 as your dd, and then get the z06 for a fun car.
