That's pretty ill. I still get about 15 in mixed driving
(not much highway) with all my mods and a happy
foot.
Hell, my 2+ ton Caprice with a cammed 400SBC and
no overdrive got 9MPG last fillup and most of that
was hauling a ton of trailer behind.

that's like... wow.
oh, and i'm not sure how you feel about this, but your math is off... that's 9.7mpg
and "hypermiling" doesn't always work so well on our cars from what I can tell, I usually get the best economy at ~1800-2200 rpm. still... that's rough.
definitely recommend fixing the knock sensor... it's probably dumping fuel if it isn't working. i'm sure you know that though.

You want to hear bad, i've got a Camry as my winter car and it seriously gets a consistent 12 mpg. And I don't beat it or anything. I would do a tune up but im probably selling it within a month so im just gonna leave it.

also check your air filter, I know sounds so minuscule, but mine clogged up (fra mod ) and it dropped to 11.5, then 10.3 mpg, cleaned it out, and got 24 the next tank.

Take care of the knock sensor and make sure your maintenance is up to par. The 02 sensors should be fine unless you are running really rich or misfiring, thats what kills 02 sensors. That and silicone based grease
Do '00s have EGR? Without it on a car that came with it, that can have a decent effect on cruising MPG. Are you A4 or M6? If A4 is your torque converter locking up? I've helped a lotta people with fuel economy problems lol.
