Transmission temp while towing
Hi, when towing my 7,000 lb camper with my 2004 Yukon Denali XL, the trans temp runs between 200 and as high as 230.
I never got any warning lights, but that seems high to me.
I was going to drain, flush, then refill with something good like Royal Purple, but was thinking I should also get a bigger trans cooler.
What do you think? Is 230 something to worry about?
This trip was ony 2 hours each way. In a month I am going 6 hours each way and want to make sure I am good to go.
Thanks, Scott

My 2500HD runs 180 at the hottest. Maybe 200 if its really hilly but it is never there more then like 5 minutes. mine actually runs like 150 just normal driving.

I have a 24,000 lb cooler on my 99 truck in addition to the Z-71 cooler and am approaching 200k with no probs. I tow a 3500lb boat fairly frequently in the summer... I hope I didn't just jinx myself cause I gotta do a rear in the car soon and would have to make a choice if my truck tranny blew....
