Would you and to what extent mod a rare car?
I am getting ready to come into some decent money and have picked up a 6.0iron block that is ready to be rebuilt. I have also got a set of L92 heads for it. Anyways I was thinking about building a turbo 370 or 408 and dropping in my Formula. This brings me to my question. Being that my car is a true WS6 and is 1 of 7 and has been modded with basic bolt ons. Would I loose much by making it a fully built car or what? I do not plan on selling the car but who knows I may change my mind in a few years.

I think it's all a matter of preference. If you plan on keeping the car for ~30yrs, and want to keep it in showroom condition, then I'd say avoid any mods. However, if you drive your car on more than just one sunny day per month, then I'd say go ahead and mod the crap out of it

Your 98 SGM Formula looks damn good (sounds healthy too) in person you already know how I feel about it. Pick up a camaro or base TA...I know I know you have always owned formulas...and build it. You can try t find a formula but in my experience they are harder to find. Anyways keep that as your show car and build another F-body!!!

Mileage?? Maybe I missed it but that is HUGE when thinking of keeping a car for collector's value in the immediate future. Unless you want to wait 30 more years when mileage won't be the main factor, just having a nice F-body will bring good $$$ like you see today with 60's muscle cars. If you have high mileage just put in the engine and don't worry about it. If you have storage space it is always wise to keep stock parts, especially the original engine.

I don't think you would like driving that car as much as you would the one you have now. You have been the only owner and know where it's been. I imagine that it is a really tight car and doesn't rattle or anything like that. Put the motor in and keep the origional, do a few suspension mods if you havn't already to keep it good and tight and then ENJOY

I love the car as it is. But I would love it more if I had that v8 rumble and pshht sound everytime I come out of the gas... Also another 400 or so hp wouldn't be too bad either. The gold is a real eye catcher but anytime I have the hood up and I'm next to someone with a cam or anything I feel like im slacking in the mod department. I would really like to turn it into a 700hp street car. That way I have the HP and sound to back up the good looks.

I had a couple of people tell me to keep it stock. Part of me wishes I would have put it away and stored it. Taking that route though required more money than I have and I would have gotten zero enjoyment driving it. But instead I drove it and put it in as many shows as I can so I can get the " is that paint original" and " i didnt know they made that color" comments.
