None of the LSx series of engines has lost anything. It is still at its pinacle on the street or strip! Where else can you take almost all factory parts and run 9s. Case in point is JFM-jr's car;

There came a time when the fox body mustang did the same thing. Even my 347 stroker car that was a strip/show car lost its cred. Now that I am in a LS1 I have people all the time still come up to me and tell me they really like my car.

go to youtube and search up "cartek trans am" heads and cam bolt ons, 12 bolt, a few suspension mods running 10s street driven. I dont know any car in the world that can do this especially for the price and ease of maintainence/ownership.

Without reading 10 pages of the thread...
No it hasn't lost it's street credibility.. I am confident that when I pull up to a light 98% of the time, I can beat the car next to me. And I'm willing to be the other car knows it too. And I'm cam only.
The only thing that would concern me is other LSX and a terminator..

My cam only SS gets plenty of respect in my car club. And i'm one of the slowest of the group. It all depends on what crowd you are with. When I show up around a bunch of old school hot rods and 60's classics guess what? I get no respect. You just need a change of scene.

That's the smartest thing you've said or done since you removed Jakes Dad.

Back to the original poster: You need to get out of the hood, off the street, and on the track. Sometimes, the talking still continues - often there are side bets at the track. You'll find at the track, anything, any brand can be quick. Any car can beat another car on any given day. Don't worry about what someone thinks: hump:
Instead of standing and talking at the hood - get a second or third job. Pocket the money - go to school - or buy parts. Learn what makes a car go fast. You'll learn a persons mouth has nothing to do with it

lsx dont lose thier cred. they only get better!!!!!
you hsould try running with a big ws6 hood then run with a flat trans am hood and see what your time difference is..... the "Ram Air" doesnt really have an effect unless your doing 100-120 mph

OK, this thread's a little silly, just because it's being asked on this board. To have a somewhat better chance of getting a somewhat objective answer, you'd have to ask it on a board that caters to all different types of car enthusiasts, IDEALLY one that's nationwide - but I suspect that anyone who knows anything about engine efficiency would recognize that even a stock LS1 is pretty respectable on the street.
As for me, I'd already bought a set of AFR 195s & a really good intake for my Gen-I SBC, was planning on building a fairly tough EFI 383 with those parts - and then when started reading about things like hollow-core camshafts & 15-degree valve angles, that plan went right into the garbage. You just can't (successfully) argue with physics & 20+ years of Moore's Law...
Yeah, I'm REALLY looking forward to the looks on people's faces when my stock-looking, substantially-lightened, quiet-exhaust-having (except for the electric cutout!)
"TPI car" (lol) stomps 'em flat... (And it'll be even worse once I've saved enough for the VVT cam & tune!)

I know i dont have the fastest LS1 (or close to) but besides the track and meets ive yet see anything on the street that I couldnt handle. The car is basically a nice weather only car and I dont really go out to look for races but its hard to turn one down lol..im sure that'll change but I also plan on getting faster
. IMO the Terminators took alot of the LS1's street cred. when they came out(as far as similarly priced modern muscle cars are concerned). Those cars make a ton of power easily, only problem is I never see one.
