Default Ram Air HELP please

Hello
i bought a Trans Am (NOT ram air or ws6)
It has both hoods (reg and ram air) included
but i don't believe it is "ram Air"
How do i make the ram air hood fully functional?
Would it be a problem in the rain. I was reading earlier that rain could get in the ram air hoods is that true?
thanks!

Ram Air was a marketing gimmick.
Does it feed cool air in to the airbox ? Yes, Is there a Ram Air effect ? No.

If you want to make the ram air "functional".. you need a lower airbox from a WS6. it is lower profile than the normal T/A airbox. good luck finding one! or you can buy the FTRA kit.

don't bother with it, just use the hood that looks the best.

I took a saw-zaw to the two baffels behind the vents a couple years ago and hand fabricated a sort of funnel out of aluminum that does a decently good job of directing air right into the airbox.

.... I never noticed any gains from doing this. I believe that for me, it's just piece mind that I actually have a FUNTIONAL hood.

You can buy sealing foam or whatever from a hardware store and use that behind the nostrils to try and get it to seal to the box...

I don't personally feel the "Ram Air" works. I have no data. I even wonder if the increased drag from the hood might have a negative effect. I have an SS and laugh everytime someone ask me about the "15HP gain" from the hood or if I can "feel" a difference. I ofcourse tell them yes, it is awesome. Normally these are the same, "Does that have a Vette Motor?" guys.

I proved to myself that it doesn't work when I bought my first WS6. Using creativity, tape, and a piece of printer paper I made a "telltale" right in front of the ram air duct, and wouldn't you know it even at 80mph the air shoots right over the nose and didn't move the paper a single bit. That area is actually a low pressure zone similar to the same area on a wing. That doesn't stop the hood from being badass though, which adds about 157hp. (If you're wondering how I could see it, my buddy drove next to me to look. We were both curious.)

I think there is something to be said for the ram-air box though, it has a larger opening than all of the other cars including the SS.

^^^ but if it didn't have the baffles pushing air, it could allow air to be forced in correct?
