Id like to remove the black paint (was painted when I bought it) and restore it to the gray colour it was new. How would I do this without harming the intake or anything else in engine bay?
Thanks

I just got through doing this job on my fast 90, mine was clear coated and painted, the clear was hard to remove if its just painted you can soak it in super clean degreaser over night and the paint will come off with some scrubbing with a toothbrush or brass brush, this is a common thing plastic modelers use to remove paint from there models.I didn't believe this would work either and I tried various other things first including soda blasting. This is a inexpensive way so keep this in mine if you decide to go another way.

I would just try and paint it something more metallic
looking (like that Mercedes-Benz silver). It's a composite
(plastic+) so I wouldn't go chemically aggressive on it.
Too bad there isn't a "poorly maintained bare aluminum"
color code... I have that going on, for free, with the
Typhoon.
