the ls1 rack will be fine as will the lt1. you have plenty of room with the ls rack.

Ive heard of quite a few guys switching from LS1's to LT setups for all out drag cars because the parts are generally cheaper b/c there more like a standard 350 then LSX cars. But either or you really cant go wrong if you plan the right setup

I'm doing LT to LS.

You need a LS1 k member to clearance the headers and a LS1 steering column. I believe the LT1 rack will still work just fine.

Oh really? I keep hearing that needs to be swapped out. If not, that saves alot of work.

just keep going, you won't have an issue with the steering column. the knuckle is different on the ls and worth the upgrade over the donut and gives more clearance for headers.

Good to know. After reading a write up on removing one it actually made me look forward to the wiring harness work.

Sorry for the confusion! Definitely not putting an LT1 in place of an LS1...I've been called stupid before but that would be ridiculous!

I am doing the upgrade to the LS steering linkage. Its smaller and I have heard the LT1's tend to wear out more. Thanks for all the input.

Wiring is pretty easy..took 3 times longer to put the wiring in my 84 MCSS..a few beers helped..
