Default Need help fast!!! Broken bolt in head!

So I just got done changing all of my pushrods and I was putting the valve cover on when one of the bolts that holds the valve cover to the head broke off in the head. Now what? How do I take this out?

How did you put the bolt back in? Just tighten it and go, or did you use a torque wrench like your suppose to? Your best bet is to post a picture. The bolts are only tightened to 106 in/lb's. Remember your only compressing until you seal the valve cover gasket.

I'll give you another case of a broken bolt and the fix.....you decide if you can do the same.......

A buddy of mine called me frantic one night as he was putting on a timing cover on a 4.3 engine he snapped a bolt off. When I got there he was getting ready to drill the bolt out and retap.........I took a screwdriver and was able to slowly turn the bolt out by a piece of broken thread........when they break there is no torque holding them in anymore, most can be screwed out with your finger tips or a pointy object that can get a grip on it.

Yup, I used a torque wrench set to 100lbs exactly and it broke. I'll snap some pics in a few minutes.

Pics are up! Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics

Depending on how tight in there they are i have used a flat head to turn them out like said above. If it is crossed that probably will require a drill

If it doesn't come loose with a screwdriver twisting counter clockwise on an abrasive portion of the snapped bolt, try using a Dremel tool to engrave a flat line across the top. The use a flathead to take that sucker out of there.

If you still haven't gotten it out, you can also use something like this:

Nope, still stuck in there. Damn extractor didn't even work. I'll have to work on it again tomorrow morning.
