What route would you take on modifying your car? Would you have saved up for part X instead of cheaping out and buying part Y?

Thats a REALLY vague question. Its really depends on what exactly your talking about if your talking about saving up a few grand more to buy a overall nicer car then yea I would save up, or if I am getting a cam, I would save up to get all the better quality supporting mods. But if your talking about not buying pacesetter LT's and saving for kooks then no I wouldn't do that.

Okay. I'll go first...

Instead of getting JET HOT LTs and Catted Y, I'd much rather have spent another $400-$500 on a set of Stainless American Racing Headers and one of their Catted Ys. The ARHs would last forever. Instead I get to watch the JET HOTs rot off my car.

I would have bought brakemotive pads and rotors instead of waiting til the last second to buy them and having to go to Vatozone and get non ceramic pads and crap rotors cause they were out of stock.

I would have not bought a vatozone heater core for my 85 because they are shitty products (again) and when it comes to replacing something its a pain in the ***.

I would have not bought used MSD wires.

I could go on and on with regrets but I still love working on my car and driving it. Hopefully QTP has some quality parts or I'll add it to the list.

Would have never bought expensive *** heat sheilding tubing for my spark plugs. Don't even need them unless I was running cheap bare uncoated headers which I would never do.

I would have kept my first Trans Am. I love the one I have now, but I loved the NMB color.

I probably would have gone with stainless headers and y pipe like I did on my 98 z. I tried to save a few bucks. Then maybe a higher stall than I got.

I would have bought ARH or Kooks instead of Pacesetters, but can't beat the price of the Pacesetters.

+1 on the budget exhaust!

And to the OP, I feel myself getting less cheap with my car the longer I have it. I have been wanting to replace my rotors and shocks for awhile now, but am waiting so I can buy something nice instead of just looking for the cheapest thing out there.

Ultimately, I guess I could have just not bought my Camaro and saved for a C6 Z06, but virtually anyone could probably validate that argument.

I would have bought stainless headers and ORY instead of whatching my money rust away 4 years later and I would of NOT bought a slp MAF but that's what happends when a 18 year old gets money.

I would have bought bought my LT1 locally rather than flying out of state to get it.

I would have done a better check of the car myself rather than relying on CarFax or having a CarChex guy check it for me.

I would have done better research and not bought a counterfeit eBay optispark.

I would have found a COMPETENT LT1 mechanic when the car overheated the first time.

I would have cut my losses and got rid of it when it kept costing me money and still broke down regularly.

Finally, I would have bought a LS1 instead of the LT1 in the first place like I was advised on this forum.

To sum up this thread: Do it right the first time around. If you don't have the cash to do it right yet, wait until you do.

LOL, I can top that. When I was 15 I bought a tornado.
I'm never going to live that one down.

In all seriousness though, GMMG the first time regardless of how much
it cost & how hard it was to find.
