Header install worth $400?

Header install worth $400?
I was planning on installing my ARH 1/78 headers and Y myself in my backyard with air tools but no lift. I went to a shop today to get an oil change on my daily driver and got a quote of 400 for him to install the headers AND new motor mounts. Is it worth the $400? I never did headers before, how much of a pain is it?

At first I thought it was for just the header and y-pipe install. But if it's for motor mounts too, that can be a pretty big pain in the butt. Doesn't sound that terrible to me to pay $400 and just roll up and have everything done and you just get to start it up and drive off.

I've heard headers are about an 8 hour job for someone who has never done it before. $400 sounds like a decent deal to me.

I personally have never installed headers, but if you feel mechanically capable then I would do it just for the experience. Might be cussing half way through it, but once its over you'll be more proud that you did yourself than saying you got a good deal from a shop...just my opinion though...

Took me about 4-5 hours taking my time in my driveway. I ran into 2 problems, my jack did not go high enough and I had to notch a small piece out of the driver's side frame (overlay). The rest is easy. I installed OBX and have had no problems with them for over a year, didn't even have to buy O2 extensions. If you do it yourself make sure you swap out the spark plugs while you are there.

I wonder what the stock exhaust manifold replacement flat rate time is. They may be basing it off that.
And it's free if you do it yourself. Did mine in my garage with my cousin and a case of beer. Took me a while, but I was working on the ground and with hand tools and I didn't know the car that well at the time.
