Default How much fuel is being burned at idle?

Like say over a 30 minute period at idle, how much fuel would your car go through?

This is for a 2000 Formula of course.

Also, any way to calcuate it?

Find out the injector pulse width at idle (milliseconds), find out the injector flow rate for that manifold pressure (lbs/hr), convert to lbs/millisecond, multiply them together and you get lbs. Convert lbs of gasoline to gallons and you'll know.

But how many times is it pulsing?

Now that I think about it....

You'd be better off knowing the idle air-fuel ratio and the exact amount of air being consumed. Then you could figure out how much gasoline was being dumped.

i'm gonna have to agree with this. you just have to make sure that the engine is at the same temperature the whole time, the air temperature is the same the whole time and the humidity is the same the whole time. all these things affect gas consumption

you also have to make sure the gas tank is filled up to the exact same level. fill up with the exact same level until you get that *CLICK* when the gas turns off. i assume it clicks off at the exact same level every time?

I would think so if you are on level ground but I dont know many gas stations that aren't.

or just fill till the neck is full and gas is spiling over on the ground..ha ha ha.. for real though you can fill the neck all the way up if you are careful and have an extra min or two at the pump
