Build a long block or buy one?

I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a bare block and build the motor or just by a long block. TSP has a complete 346 long block for $5900. I've got a 98 Z28. It has Pacesetters, TSP True Duals, Performabuilt LVL 2 with their 3500 stall, and a Fast 90/90. I'm looking to go low 7's in the 1/8 N/A. Then later on put on a Procharger. What do you guys think? Which route would you go?

well ask around for prices of building a engine around you. they will be usually pretty high. I am going to be building my own engine, and have a friend help out with the things I can't do. So for me the cost is going to be low. If you are going to spend the money on a new engine do it right. D
Don't listen to a bunch of people on the new saying you should do this or that, call up an engine builder, tell him what you want out of it and they can point you in the right direction.
good luck.

id say look around...see about going with a few more cubic inches before you just jump on a certain one...might be able to find a bigger one for about the same price or a few $$$ more

I agree Longblocks are very less stressful.
In the middle of engine swap with a shortblock, and im having to buy all kinds of ****.
In the end it would probably come very close to have just buying a longblock.
