Default Quest for more RWTQ...

After getting my ported FAST 90/90 installed and the car retuned about 2 weeks ago, I have been on an endless quest to find more RWTQ. I thought for sure, that with the ported FAST 90/90, I would have broke that 400+RWTQ mark, but fell just short of it. Mods are as follows, if you dont see it listed, I don't have it:

SLP Lid
SLP Bellow
FAST 90/90 (ported by Tony Mamo, and more by me)
Patriot Stage II Ls6 "Style" heads (2.02"int/1.57"ext, 59cc)
Comp Cams 224/224 .581/.581 @112lsa
Ls2 Timing Chain
Ls6 Oil Pump (ported and shimmed)
XS LT's/ORY
SLP LM
HP Tune (RPM in Lewisville, TX)

Spohn STB
Spohn LCA's
Spohn PH Rod

Stock 10-bolt w/stock 3.42 gears

__________________________________________________ ___

I am open to suggestions and opinions about what I can still do to get more RWTQ. I have (but not installed) a TSP 231/237 .598/.595 @112+2lsa cam, as I am wanting to max out my little 224 cam before stepping up.

Please dont comment on how your car has more TQ than mine, dude your tune this, or dude your mods that. we all know each car reacts differently to the same mods...

numbers are in my sig...TIA

Air your rears up to 35 lbs and dyno on a cool day ... lean it out a tad ... just enough to break 400 then drop the air pressure and fatten the A/F back up.

Just make sure it's not seeing any knock when it's leaned out a hair, then, throw it up there and roll with it.

JEB99TA- why would you do stuff like that just to push your dyno numbers a little hire and then undo said 'upgrades' I think when he said he was looking for more torque he didnt just mean to push his dyno over and then go right back to normal. If i was you i'd def. throw in the bigger cam.

CockerKid009, I think you should re-read the original poster's question. JEB was simply telling the guy where he can FIND more rear wheel torque in his current setup. That's the way he apparently read it, so, that's the way he answered it. I interpret it the same way. What JEB offered was resolution to FIND the RWTQ the original poster was looking for. Some people have goals and the original poster stated it was his goal to hit 400 ft lbs of RWTQ. Well, he's found it in JEB's answer.

And what did you mean when you stated >
and then undo said 'upgrades'
? I'm not seeing where JEB said anything about undoing any upgrades, unless I'm reading it wrong. C-mon, give the guy a break.

'Throw a bigger cam in?' You can't go much bigger without fly cutting, right. I can think of cheaper ways to make 4 RWHP needed to meet your goals. You could spray it for cheaper ... of course, then, you'd need to upgrade your rearend. I'd do that now before adding anymore power to your car.

Love the sig, man.

Put a few stickers on it, that should put you over.

I like the pulley idea, especially with a cam. i think if you slap either the asp or the slp pulley on you should go over the 400 mark. man other than that the only other things I could think of is a new water pump, and I hate these things unless you got power but maybe a new MAF?? Good luck. And by the way, I got the LM 1 and I am so scared to put a Y and LT's on but after hearing your car from the dyno video in your sig, man I like the sound.

I was facing the same issue ... put SOOO much money into building this thing and couldn't quite break 400/400. The U/D pulley is what finally put me over.

sounds like i will be looking into an SLP underdrive pulley then...

what about switching from my ORY/SLP LM to true duals? is it even worth it to do so...?

They say a Aluminum Drive Shafts make more power than the Steel Driveshafts do. And you probally already have one. I'm guessing you have a 6-speed because you said you have 3.42 gears and I'm thinking if a lighter driveshaft makes more power on a dyno. How much would someone pickup if they went to a Carbon Fiber Driveshaft. Probally enough to put you over your 400 mark.

If you have a good-flowing SLP LT/ORY/LM exhaust, you won't gain much to make it worthwhile (DUMPED). By the time you cap off the dual pipes before the turndowns, you won't even save much weight, either. My duals were nice, but, the vibration and sound got to be a bit much after a few months, so, I went back to a catback exhaust. It's really a matter of personal preference, but, IMHO, I wouldn't look for much power gain over your current exhaust. With your heads and cam, the FAST 90 will only flow so much air through the motor, so, I don't think going to 4" piping with duals would even give you any major gains ... probably would pput you over your goal of 400 RWTQ, though.

Pulley it, I think I saw some SLP's on sale on some of the sponsers sites. Im curious to see what you pick up after you decide if you are going to do the pulley. Oh and the ohter thing is maybe the SSRA?? Duno, maybe a little more air from the high pressure spot up front into that sweet FAST set up you got.
