Default "Check gages" light?

I just bought a 99 H/C TA w/ nitrous and the tripod gauges etc. The check gages light came on about 2 hrs ago. My gas is getting kind of low and I did a few searches and some people said that when their gas gets low their check gages light comes on? does that sound right? anything else? I appreciate the any help.
Thanks
Patrick.

Some autozones still pull codes for free right in the parking lot. Id go swing by there first.

edit: Can you unscrew the gas cap and release pressure to turn the light off?

Yup, that light will come on when you have low fuel.

You still have an LT1?

How low on gas does it wait until the light comes on? I had a little under 3 gallons left a little while ago and there was no light yet. Not that I'd expect it at that point but I know some cars turn the gas light on when you are practically running on fumes.

I filled it up and it took 14.6 gallons. Im not sure if the ls1 tanks are 15.5 like lt1s or 16.5. but it prob turned on at about ~2 gallons.

Do not let it run on empty often or you'll be replacing a fuel pump.

Peace,
Craig.
