2.73's suck. for acceleration anyways. isnt that why u would buy one of these cars is for acceleration??? lol ... im glad my z28 convert came with 3.23's cause i can for sure till the difference over 2.73's in past camaro's. to sum it up, 2.73's are nothing to brag about no matter what gas mileage!!!!

Also, I never have bragged about having 2.73s, and will most likely go to 3.42s or 3.73s. I am working on other things first, and my signature merely states what I have, which is useful for posting so that everyone knows what you are working with.

How come the best ive gotten from my 98 trans am is about 15 miles per gallon, highway and city, mostly highway! whenever i fill up the tank i reset the trip odometer thing and, the next time i fill it up is like 1/8 of the tank and ive only gotten 160 miles the most! is something wrong with my car? its stock, and i dont abuse it!

i wasn't referring to u. i have factory 3.23's which will turn up quicker than 2.73's which is BETTER. GM even admitted to having to put in such a crappy gear such as the 2.73 in a musclecar like the LS1 z28. but thats the government/epa standards for ya. haha defensive arent ya.

On my drive to El Paso and back from Los Angeles, I was getting 25mpg with all highway driving. My car is a stock 98 Trans Am. It did a lot better than I thought it would. I filled up at about 340 miles per tank with the gauge at a little above E but before the Low Fuel light.

99 trans am A4 2.73: mods at the time were slp loudmouth cat-back, k&N air filter, hypertech power programmer. so it was very lightly modded.
managed 25 mpg in mostly cold weather driving from Los Angeles, CA to central Indiana. that was the average mpg over a 2000+ mile road trip.

although mine is a m6, with lid and catback, i'm used to getting 28 or so mpg on high way, i drove 62 miles one way to work so just over 120miles a day and on the 4th day i'd fill up so thats around 400-410 miles per tank, the tank is 16 gallons right? I usually filled it up when i had an 1/8th of a tank left. usually my way home back from work on 4th day. this is driving 75-80mph, i did a week of driving at 65, my mpg's went up significantly filled up on 5th day, but i wont do that again cuz it took an extra 30+ min to get to work and semi's were passing me up and thats not cool.

- Gear ratio.
2.73
- Stock or bolt-ons (please specify which bolt-ons)
SLP Lid, Magnaflow Cat-back
- Driving style (easy, aggressive, wild)
Generally easy, although I am guilty of the occasional romp from a redlight. I don't baby it, but I'm not a speed demon either
- Your best MPG for a tank of gas (please specify city, highway, or mixed)
I average right at 22. That's driving mainly to and from work, which is a mix of stop light to stop light, and highway.

Those 3.23s really make a difference, huh? My E.T. is a tenth better than yours, and I'm running 2.73s with a catback and a lid.

Here is what I need to know:
- Gear ratio.
- Stock or bolt-ons (please specify which bolt-ons)
- Driving style (easy, aggressive, wild)
- Your best MPG for a tank of gas (please specify city, highway, or mixed)
My current DD has attained a best MPG of 35 with mostly highway driving, or 30-32 with more mixed driving. So I want to see how much I'll lose going to my stock 2.73 A4 LS1.

Gears: 2.73
Stock with free mods and self tuned.
Driving style: Mostly easy but some WOT action
Best MPG. I didn't have any true true city driving, my back/forth to work was around 37miles(a few top lights/signs but no stop-go) and I averaged 23mpg with work/errands. Long trips on the highway netted me 27mpg with the car loaded full(talking tools/clothes/etc) at 80mph.

Car: '02 T/A, non-WS6
Gear: 2.73
My car is basically stock except the previous owner replaced the plugs with Autolite platinum plugs. The car currently has 28K miles. I drive about 3/4 city and 1/4 hwy most of the time and average 20-22mpg combined. I can get from 290-315 miles on a tankful, and thats taking it all the way down to the E on the gas gauge.

I usually get 25-26 mpg with lid, exhasust, and an intake lol pisses all the guys off at my school that drive grand am's and her around 24mpg. My driving is mostly highway during the week and a mix on weekends.
Gears are 2.73 will be 3.73's soon so I'll expect a lil' loss in mpg.

I have 3.23 car. My best ever was completely highway driving back from NC, I got 25 mpg. That was with a little stop and go traffic at one point.
I average about 22-23 mpg during the week going to school. It's roughly 75 miles a day, four days a week. It all depends on how bad traffic gets.
I don't drive crazy alot. I get on it everyone in awhile but not close to everyday. My mods are, Lid, Cat-back, and the hood, but I don't know if the last one would do much at all. The car has 115k miles on it.

1998 Formula, stock except LS1 Motorsports lid and 3:42 gears and I just averaged 21.1MPG. I drove it like an old lady the almost the entire time, only did a quick shot from 0-60 once.

- 3.23 gear ratio
- Stock except for SLP Loudmouth exhaust
- Driving style? I prefer to think of it as spirited rather than aggressive. I drive 7-8 MPH over the limit unless I'm behind someone slower, in which case I'm prolly thinking of passing.
- 23 MPG on midgrade gas. 90% hwy driving (and the posted speed is 70 on the interstate here in MI). That's a real calculation, not looking at how many miles per tank I get then dividing it by the number of gallons to a tank. That's useless information since most people could get another 15-35 miles out of a tank depending on when they think they're on empty and go to fill up.
