Default Check your spare tire!

So I got a flat this morning on the way to work, and once I got the spare on and let the car off the jack, I realized the SPARE was flat too!

I ended up crawling down the breakdown lane with my flashers on till I could get to an exit where I knew there was a gas station where I could fill the tire. It seems to be okay now, it held air all day, although I'm sure driving a few miles on it flat wasn't good for it.

I had checked it as far as making sure it was there along with the jack when I bought the car, but I never checked the pressure or anything.

Just figured I'd post this, so I could maybe save somebody from a major inconvenience.

I went to 17's, so I have no spare anymore, and no run flats. If I get a flat, AAA gets called. My car is 39lbs. lighter though.

No problem. I gotta ask though, what good will your spare do you if it's in your attic?

Mines been in the garage along with the jack ever since my last trip to the track, but it looks like its holding air so I'm good to go.

thats why you buy a 10 dollar compressor from walmart. problem solved and you dont have to keep air in your spare.

So whats your point you went to 17's? You can still run the spare if you have 17's...?? I dont get it???

i have a question? could you run the spare tires on the front as skinnies out at the drags to save on weight?not back to back but make a pass cool down for a bit later make another?would you blow them by taking them to 100+ for a couple of seconds?

Wouldn't have helped me at all. I don't know what I hit, but there's a 1/4" hole right in the center of the tread. Looks like someone shot it.

No way that tire is holding air.

And am I the only one that actually keeps thier spare in the car? I can't imagine not having it.

What would you guys do if you got a flat, and fix-a-flat or a comressor won't work?

I check my spare every 6 months or so, and I have a permantly mounted compressor in the car, so I can fill up regular tires, or the spare if the situation arrizes. (cheap 12 volt compressor, and the old 20' hose from my 1992 bonneville air inflation system)

My spare is nice and firm.... that's what she said. And I keep a can of spare air in there too. Tire repair shops heart that stuff.

Yeah, I just run around with a can of Fix a flat and my cell phone. There's a Nitrous bottle where the spare goes.

Yeah, this happened to me once when I was going to drive down to the tire shop to get tires on my ZR1's and needed to run a spare on the front driver's side where I had a flat. I couldn't even tell that it was flat until the car was lowered to the ground. At least mine happened at my house where it didn't matter but I would have been so pissed if it happened to me in a situation that actually mattered and I would have had to waste more time to call someone to come help me out wherever I may be!!!
