So i call someone to bring me my spare i try it still nothing i leave the key inignition for 3 minutes turned like your supposed to and i even tried ten minutes and still nothing. sounds like you will likely need a new lock cylander. The lock cylander should be around $70 give of take plus I think you need new ignition keys to go with the new lock cylander so thats another $30 a key plus labor. . . . don't ya just love theft deterants?

Sometimes all it needs is a good shot of spray contact cleaner into the cylinder. The security light flashing indicates that the system doesn't recognize the resistance value of the key. This can be caused by grime on the contacts in the cylinder (or on the key's resistor pellet).

I can't believe that the lock cylander costs that much. I know my cost(I work at a "Stealership") on a lock cylander for a 89 T/A with the pass key was like $60 and I know for that you needed new keys. I would thing that the newer ones would be the same.

The part retails for $101 and is available for about half that at gmpartsdirect.com. The part number is 26033387 (M6) or 26033390 (A4).

Too late now but you could have bypassed the Pass key system and would have been a whole lot cheaper and you woudn't have to worry about it anymore. Thats what i did. Whenever it happened to me, it happened at the worst possible time. I was trying to buy a new car at a dealership in dallas, I live about 2 hours away, and when the dearlership guy was going to take it for test drive it didn't want to start. Well i got it working by push starting and I later search in here and found instructions to by pass the Key pass. I had trouble starting once before but didn't pay attention, that time it started after a couple of minutes.

would have cost you less than a buck to fix... then you could have shopped around for the lock cylinder...

The "less than a buck" he's refering to is for a resistor of the same value as the one in the key to bypass the system.
