Changed original Fuel Filter at 105K!!

Changed original Fuel Filter at 105K!! I wanted to do a few maintenance things on my car so i decided to change my fuel filter. I looked at it and it was the original filter and the car has 105k on the clock. Me and two other guys changed the filters last nite. One guy had 50k and another has somwhere from 70-80K. After the install we blew through our filters. Neither one of them could blow thru it and i blew through mine and could feel the air come out the other side. 
I couldn't believe it!! We were surprised. I just wanted to let you guys know my experience.

how hard was it to do that? i have 88000 on my car now, and looking to do that when i do the rest of the 90000 stuff on my car (brakes, all fluids, plugs, wires, etc...). any special tools needed or anything like that?

www.installuniversity.com has a write up with pics. Sounds like keeping the tank full is more beneficial to the fuel pump than changing the filter???? Getting ready to change mine...approaching 25K.

Lack of proper fuel filter maintenance is a great way to kill your fuel pump. I beleive this is why so many people loose their stock pumps early, because they don't change the filters often enough.
I do mine every 10K for city driven cars and 15K for mostly highway driven cars.
It's an easy swap on an F-body. As for tools it's a quick disconnect on one side and use a flare nut wrench on the other side if you have 'em. Otherwise regular wrenches will work as well. The sizes are 16mm and 20mm, or 5/8" and 13/16" will work as well.

It's very easy to change unless it's rusted. Might want to get some of that rust breaker stuff and spary it on a couple times for a few days n then do it cause when I did mine I twisted the fuel line in half.

wow u guys are crazy, my filter was stock (assuming anyways) at 65,xxx miles when i noticed all of a sudden my car felt like it had 20 rwhp. Yea took the bitch off and i COULD NOT blow through it no matter how hard i tried so imagine how bad the fuel pump was fighting. Cut it open with a saw and yeah, it was nasty in there , killed my pump as well so i ended up getting a racetronix/walbro 255 kit and a new filter which i now change every 6 months more or less.

WOW thats rediculous you guys are waiting that long for a fuel filter swap.. i bought my car with 63k on it, dynoed it... pulld a 16:1 AFR across the board at WOT and made 257rwhp... needless to say, clogged fuel filter... i changed it THAT day... so bad to run a filter that long.. i dont let my fuel tank get under 1/4 tank and i definitly make a habit of changing it, every 15-20k seems good.. definitly dont need to be leaning out my motor.. lucky for me the guy who owned it before me was 72 years old so i dont have to worry about him beatin up on the car while it was running lean.

when it comes to fuel filters it could last 100k if you get clean fuel or be blocked in a few k miles if you get dirty fuel.I replaced the fuel filter in my 89 camaro and a few months later less than 5k miles it started loosing power on hills.Pulled the filter and it was blocked badly.I was buying all my gas from the same place,cheap mini market chain.I found out later i wasn't the only one who had trouble so i called to complain.They admitted they were buying crap gas!
