Does my description of this smaller hose sound correct? I'm concerned because there was an intake leak before I started this swap and I want to make everything right.

Great vids BlueKnight

Thanks
Yes, that little vacuum hose connects to the elbow.

BlueKnight, do a search for "knock sensors" or "PO327/332" and you'll find out all about it.

Predator thanks for the info. I found out that hose controls the HVAC blend vents. I am going to extend the hosing somehow to make it easier to hook up. I don't think it even reaches the elbow at the current place it sits which is why it wasn't hooked up before. I might steal a little piece off the top to run into the elbow, then run a rubber hose down to the remaining tube and rtv it.

I thought the foam pads were put there to absorb the water so overtime it will do its job to keep it away from the knock sensors. Take them out and water would prob get to them much faster

"HVAC blend vents"

That's it! HVAC vent/ vacuum tube. I was trying to remember but had forgotten.

When I switched to an LS6 intake there were two outlets, one for the HVAC vent and the other one for the AIR system I believe. I had to cap one of the outlets.

Maybe they were put there to to block water getting to the knock sensors by absorbing, but they actually pulled/wicked water into the intake, water that probably wouldn't have reached the knock sensors without the foam being there. All you have to do is read all the posts with people who have fried their knock sensors. Also, the TSB from GM recommends removing the foam, that's where I got it from. GM realized that the foam was a mistake.

Good idea, but use red RTV, and make about a 1/2" high dam around each sensor, and make a slot or opening in the dam facing towards the firewall to let any water flow out. When the car accelerates it will pull any water out towards the firewall.

That's a good question. I thought about that, I think some did shave them all off.

I extended that HVAC hookup, got the intake installed, and my vent switching works like a dream. The other bigger tube goes over to the brake booster canister.

I took all of the ribs off of my intake and then smoothed it out with a finishing wheel. Looked great.

I'm glad everyone's installs are going well. I haven't heard anyone complain of broken OPSU's or high idles (aka) vacuum leak.

tomorrow, me and my friend are doing the LS6 intake swap and replacing the push rods. My question is, I don't think the LS6 mani has the hole for the line from the AIR or EGR thing, these 2 systems are not removed from my car. ummmm, what should I do? just leave the line open? will my check engine light come on?

The AIR injection goes into the lid... You can get a mini filter and it will run fine. As for EGR you will have to get the codes tuned out because, yes, it will throw a code... Ask me how I know...
