Default Ac removal?

I was just wanting to know what all is involved in removing the ac system and all its accessories other than the obvious things. I just want to know what to consider and what ill need to do to eliminate the ac and all its components.

I was wondering about the belts too but i was under the hood the other day and it looks like the AC runs on it's own separate belt, so I'm thinking you could just remove that and be fine? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking to do the same thing down the road.

I want to remove my a/c but keep the heat. Since I have a vert, the a/c does not do all that but the heat will come in handy.

lol yeah there is not much use for a/c with a vert. Did you pull anything out from under your dash or was it just the stuff under the hood? I was even thinking of moving my a/c controls to the glove box or somewhere else and maybe even making the controls more simper with just am on/off switch, cuz if I need heat then it is always on full blast, no need for all the controls except for an on/off button lol.

I still have my heat too. The A/C removal was all under the hood. I have never seen behind my glove box.

negative. i didnt get a chance to snap any pictures.

basically, you just cut everything that protrudes into the engine bay flush with the firewall. then make a plate to cover the hole. just make sure on your plate you cut holes for the heater hoses.

Is that the big hole on the firewall on the pass side?

Here's a thread I couldn't find yesterday. Check out merv's post.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...leting-ac.html

Here's a pic of what I left in the car. Look in the top left corner of the pic, see the 2 red plugs. That is what merv took out and made the new plate to cover the hole.

Thanks for the pic and link! Did he make that plate cover or does one of the sponsors make them?

I think he made the plate him self. You could take the OEM plate and trace it on a sheet of metal and cut it out with a angle grinder.
