I wonder if this will help me.y problem is the car starts out ok and then later as its warmed up and I'm stopping the meter will start to flucuate and start to drop below 13 n dance around the yellow area. I have to take my foot of the brakes for it to get up again and turn the ac off. It's also about a year old from oriellys too. Would putting in the 145 amp alt. help out??

I'm glad I came across this thread. We use ls motors in our sand rails & its not fun when they break down in the middle of no where, lol.
Last season my buddy was following me when all of sudden (about 1/2 into our ride) the car starts making weird noises, kinda like it wants to run on 4 cylinders but was not missing on the same four cylinders if that makes sense. Anyway, we made it back to camp. I had a back up alt I got used from another friend & slapped it on. It fixed all the voltage issues he was having. I guess it is common in the desert so I always carry a spare in the trailer. My next one that goes out will get a custom rewind from a company down the street. They will rewind for 145 amps & guarantee it, which is nice to have.

I'm going to put a truck alternator on my truck :p
My truck came with the standard 105 amp truck alternator, when the fans come on high and the a/c is turned up, headlights etc... I can see it struggling so I am going to upgrade it to the 145 amp.
Also a little update... It has now been two years since I put that used 100k mile junkyard alternator on the Camaro. The guy that bought the Camaro from me about a month ago took it off but it was still working flawlessly. He was chasing a belt squeak is why he removed it. Turned out it wasn't the alternator. So again, best $45 I have ever spent...

Anybody know the best place for me to order one of these alternators online? Specifically, a used or rebuilt one because I don't have a lot of money.
Is ebay a decent place to check?
