Default Redoing my 2002 z28

Hey guys first real post on here, I bought this z28 2 months ago it was a cam, bolt on car with m6 and 3.42 gears when I bought it. The car made 408hp cam only, I'll upload dyno sheets for it later. SOOO I had been driving it around for awhile now and I realized that this was just not enough and I needed more!

So last week I sent the car off to get my 4.10 gears installed. While the car was away I decided I should give the top end a little love as well. I did a bit of research and decided to go with a set of prc stage 2.5 5.3 heads, ls7 lifters, 7.4 chromoly hardened pushrods, mls head gaskets, arp head studs, and some fic 42lb injectors.

Then I addressed the exhaust system that was on it. I went with some tsp 1 3/4 headers, there off road y pipe, and the rumbler catback exhaust system.

So I have received everything for the most part(still waiting on my tips from tsp) and have started installing everything for the most part. I worked on it for about 8hrs today and a couple hours last night.

This is where I am now. I am hoping to have the heads back on there tomorrow and get it for the most part running! Sorry for the long winded post!

Thanks so far I've put about 12hrs of work into tearing it apart and cleaning it. I hope to have some dyno numbers on the new setup here in the next couple of weeks.

I feel like the luckiest man alive. I caught this just in time, it caused no damage to the piston either. So win for me!

Transmission was rebuilt by rpm transmission before I baught the car. I know it was several years ago when it was rebuilt but I hope I don't have to pull the transmission and rebuild it for awhile. My next thing on my agenda is to get a 9" rear end after I blow up the little 10 bolt. I'm not even going to take it to the track till I get a new rear end. I'll make sure to post some videos of it when I get it back together.

well i didn't get much done on the camaro today. I was taking off the last head bolt and my hand slipped and hit the cylinder head and cut my finger to the bone. So today I learned a valuable lesson they make mechanic gloves for a reason :p

sorry to see the injury.get bigger injectors if you currently have stock ones.you will need to trailer it for a dyno tune..consider some trunnion bearings upgrade.

i have heard of the trunion bearing upgrade, I am not 100% sure what it is though. I did buy 42lb fuel injector clinic injectors off of a member on here so that I would be ready for nitrous and I will be trailering it to the dyno

I bought 42lb injectors for my build for the same reason you did haha. The comp trunion bearing upgrade is good, cheap, insurance for your rocker arms. A lot of people go with it when they do head/cam swaps.

Yeah i looked it up, i believe while they are out I am going to go ahead and do the upgrade. Seems like a fairly cheap bit of insurance.

Hey, before you put the intake on, check to see if your knock sensors are rusted out. Replace them if they look bad. Then silicone shut the rubber plugs so water cannot get in.

Looks good OP. How has the 4.10 gears been treating you? I have been looking into them for my z28 myself.

I like the 4.10 gears, I had 3.42 gears before and i couldn't use 6th gear with the cam I have. I have a 605/609 lift 234/235 duration 112 lsa comp cam and cruising at anything under 70mph I had to use 5th gear. Now I sit around 1800rpm in 6th gear at 60mph so it is alot better when you are cruising. When you punch it the thing is a whole different animal. I kind of wish I would have done a 4.30 gear b/c it's not like I am trying to do highway rolls with this car. I have my turbocharged h22 civic for that.

After giving my hand a couple days to heal I am back at it guys. This is my progress as of now. I looked around on the internet for awhile and it now looks like it would be a great time to swap out the motor mounts. I wouldn't mind recommendations on best brand etc.
