Default Beehive Valve Springs?

I was wondering if anyone uses the Comp Bee Hives for the LSx? With my custom cam Pat G said I need the Partiot "Gold" .660" Lift Extreme Dual Spring Kit, was wondering if there is any alternative. I like the Idea of the Bee Hives which is why I'm asking about them.

I have no experience with the comp beehives, but I will tell you that I have had two sets of patriot golds and love them.

If Patrick recommended the Patriot Extremes, the Comp 26918 Beehives will not work. Patrick does not make these recommendations lightly. I would use exactly what he recommended or at a minimum a comparable spring.

Comp does have a few other beehive springs that could work but they would end up costing signifigantly more than the Patriot setup.

Thanks,
Shane

Personally, I would go with the PAC-1518 (.650 lift) over the Patriot. Not that the Patriots are bad, but IN MY HUMBLE OPINION the PAC offers the advantage of a much lighter valve train.

Agreed and with correct installed height shim to .060 of coil bind and should work nicely I think.

What do you mean shim them? Also do they come with the retainers and locks?

If you have never set up a valvetrain before its well worth the money to pay someone to do it. By the time you buy the tools you will have spent more than it costs to have someone good do it.

They can be purchased with retainers and locks.

Some good info about installed height and shimming. What they don't tell is shimming while keepin seat pressures within cam specs will prolong spring life and provide better valvetrain harmonics.
