college ms3 build
As racing season approaches I got the bug again to start working on my car. This time I have the money to do it though
so ill list below what my plans are. Im open to any suggestions/comments. Just wanna make sure I know what im doing since im use to gen I sbc's and am still somewhat noobish on the LS1's.
TSP MS3 cam 112LSA PRC dual spring/pushrod package
LS6 Oil Pump (stock or ported from TSP?)
LS2 timing Chain
LS6 Intake
Pacesetter 1 3/4" ceramic coated longtubes w/ORY
Dual QTP cutouts
Stock Rockers... or should i get something else?
New stock LS1 water pump
(holding out hope on the stock clutch and rear for now
)
thats the list so far... let me know what im forgetting. as for the tune I was just going to do a mail order TSP tune... unless anyone can reccomend a good place I can have it done in either Peoria IL, the Quad Cities, Springfield IL, or Quincy IL area. The closer to Macomb IL the better! and not chicago. also hoping to stick with the 26# stock injectors or should I get bigger ones?
thanks for the info!
P.S. heard some rumors about TSP doing a tax season sale possibly...?? any truth to that? Like the title says... college...
so if ive got an oppertunity to save i gotta look into it! Thanks
Edit:
UPDATED LIST:
TSP MS3 cam 112LSA PRC dual spring/pushrod package
TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
LS2 timing Chain
LS6 Intake
Home Ported TB
Pacesetter 1 3/4" ceramic coated longtubes w/ORY
Stock Rockers
36# injectors
LS7 Clutch/Pressure Plate/Flywheel
New Slave Cyl

Yes TSP is running a sale right now. The stock clutch won't hold for long, so it should be on the list as well

Fluids, gasket set, balancer bolt, and plugs.
Stock rockers are fine.
You should be ok on injector's too but 36/42#'s won't hurt.
If your gonna do WP too look at Edelbrock or Evans. Both flow more.

Check the For Sale section for some injectors. I picked up a set of SVO 42#'ers for $300 but that was two years ago. Might be able to find some a little cheaper
Go to buy ford racing and they are $289 with free shipping!
i'm doin a very similiar build on my '98 z28, not sure which cam yet but something very close to what youre lookin at. i'll be using 36# FAST injectors. i'll also be using the stock rocker arms but since my motor had 140k+ miles on it so im gonna sent them to harland sharp to have rebuilt.
There is someone selling a brand new LS7 clutch kit at half of the price in the for sale section. Should handle your mods just fine.
You can buy a stock LS6 and port it yourself in five minutes. And also don't forget gaskets and fluids. You can get a nice SLP Head cam bolt and gasket set for around $250 off of the WS6store that includes nearly everything you need.

thanks. i found the ls7 clutch thread... ive been doing some research on them and some people have had some problems with the ls7 clutchs... i cant find a problem thread atm but it was something about it sticking or not releasing or something? are the ls7 cutches a problem sometimes?
That's not a problem with the clutch thats a problem with the hydraulics. Most due to them improperly bleeding the lines are the swap. I would jump on that clutch deal if I were you.
