Default El Toro and matching heads...(swap complete, with video) post#1

Well I might be in the market for some decent heads for my car. What are some good options to look at that would match well with my camshaft ( specs in sig ) ??

**EDIT** Heres a video clip i made with my phone.

Can't go wrong w/ some stage 2 TEA 243s but if you have the money then get some TFS 215s.

generally you do it the other way around....match the cam to the rest of the car, (gears, stall, exhaust, intake, heads...etc)

Ill take a look at the TEA's. The TFS might be a little more than id like to spend.

well i was poor when i got the car so i bought gears. then my trans went out so i got a converter. cam swap was cheaper than heads and seemed like a better idea so i did that. Now im bored and decided on looking at heads.

the best thing i can tell you to do is call TEA, and tell them what cam you have (make sure you have the cam card handy) and see if they can tailor a set of heads around that cam.

i will tell you what from what i have seen with the TFS 220 as cast heads out there they are some of the best bang for the buck right now...i would definitely look into those or the TEA stg 2.0 ls6 heads are money also those were going to be the heads i was going to get till i stumbled into these 215 TFS's

yes, price is def a factor. not really wanting to throw down $2k+ on a set of heads. ill for sure take a look at the prc heads too. thanks for the input. i forgot they were normally cheaper then the rest.

The big intake valve on the that TEA head will cause PTV to be real tight. If you get those heads run a stock 2.00" intake valve and it will clear better. Call Mike at TEA.

They are good guys.....

And if price is the overiding factor pick up some 243's here or on the vette forum and just get a GOOD valve job and maybe some bowl blending if the budget allows.... You can always get them ported later.....

ok thanks for the heads up on the valves. i think i only wanna take the heads off once so i would like to get everything done at once, as this is my only vehicle and i work 6days a week so i cant afford to have my car down for too long.

also, whats the best vette forum out there to look for a set of used ls6 heads??

so what about an intake with an "el toro" cam and say a set of ported 5.3's. will a stock ls6 intake do ok? Would ported 5.3's be effecient enough, or should we go straight to ported 243's and not look back??
