Gains from ported 243 castings
Right now, my car traps 91.86 MPH with a LQ4, stock 317s with a Trex cam, LS swap header 1 3/4, vic Jr intake, 750 carb and about 33 total timing in my 89 with a T56 and 4.30s, heads are pretty much untouched, knowing my compression will go up more where the Trex will be happy and getting more flow out of a set of 243s that flow 300ish will make the car move allot better, but how much MPH might i expect to gain from the head swap? I built a 6.o with rods and flat tops with 317s and i ported them a bit with a torqer V2 cam, timing was in about 32 and the rest was the same with a stalled TH350 and 3.42 hears, trapped 96.3x, so i am assuming the compression itself going up alone is going to help and i am trying to figure out if i can expect 4 MPH more with a set of good ported 243s.
(sure i would probably go stalled auto but that is not what i want so dont bring it up)

Absolutely 4mph is possible. You can gain compression and flow. We could build you 62cc ls6 heads cnc ported with stock p/v to keep your p/v

4 mph seems like quite a lot in the 1/8th from just a head swap. Wouldn't that work out to around 6-7 mph in the quarter? My h/c swap only gave me a total of 7-8 more mph. I thought you would see larger gains from just a cam swap over a head swap.
Is the 4 mph increase possible now because of the size of the cam that's currently in the car? Are the stock heads restricting the ability of the cam to work to its full potential? If that is the case, I can then see why just a head swap would provide that much more power.

Alright, that is what i was hoping for, since i was not haing flow or compression alone, not to mention the LS6 head is supposed to have a better more efficient chamber for burn.
Hell, i see cammed LS1s trapping 87 or so, so i dint think 92 was a bad thing for a junk yard 6.0 with a cam stuffed in, the Trex bogs on my launching at 5100, scared of breaking the drive shaft, i might trap higher if i launch at 6500 maybe? Hell, i am not sure. A smaller cam would do me better honestly. But to hell with that, i like the Trex, im on a budget and it presented itself for 200$.

Hey hey hey, I was trapping 101 in the 1/4 with a cammed 6.0....
But it was running 8.5:1 compression, spit out the MAP sensor, shorted an O2 and shifted to OD after the 8th
