Default Should a brand new cam look like PICS posted?

I just received my new torquer v2 cam from Texas Speed. This is my first cam i have ever purcahased and I am not sure if this is normal for a cam to come like this. On one side it looks like there is green and pink paint on some of the lobes. On the other side there is brown residue that is rough in texture and is very hard to pick off. there is also debree inside of the came which looks like chips of wood or something. Did i get a used cam by mistake or is this normal when buying a new cam? Thanks

well the cam I got brand new wasn't exactly "clean". I cleaned it w/ oil and the debris inside the cam was rinsed off w/ brake fluid. If you can't clean those off I suggest to call TSP.

Mine had goupe (Sp)? of grease inside the camshaft. It was gritty so I cleaned it off. I suggest you should do the same unless it won't come off.

That stuff on the cam doesnt look like rust. Maybe a protectant that is used like new rotors have a film on them. A simple cleaning with rubbing alcohol should clean that part up but as for the paint i dunno what to say.

You definitely don't want any pitting on the bearing surfaces or the lobes. I have returned cams in better condition.

They'll swap it out, give them a call. FYI, Comp grinds/packages/ships TSPs cams.

I would clean it up before doing anything else. If it still looks bad I'm sure they will make it right. They come with sticky gunk on them to keep them from rusting and some debris from the factory is not uncommon from my experience.

My cam from TSP had brown sticky stuff on it. Its a protectant and should come off with brake cleaner. I sprayed the entire cam off inside and out and wiped it off with a clean lint free cloth and it looked fine after that. Try cleaning it and if the lobes look pitted or scared call TSP and send it back.
