Default 228/232 110 LSA or 227/233 110 LSA?

Stock headed 2002 Trans Am WS6, 6 speed, Stainless Works long tube headers, true dual exhaust, lid, LS6 intake.

Am I splitting hairs here or does the extra split of the 227/233 cam benefit the stock heads? Both cams have 10 degrees of overlap. Should there be any advance ground in or not. I want to be able to install the cam "dot to dot", so I wasn't sure if having advance ground in would allow for that or not. Shouldn't really need any or very little advance ground in due to the 110 LSA, right? Any help at all would be great. Thanks guys.

Most cams have 2-4 degrees of advance already ground in and can be installed dot to dot, is go for the larger split

If high flow heads aren't in future plans for the car, then get the wider split.
IMO, 2* advance should be good.

Since your exhaust is really good I'd go 228/232 and don't focus too much
on the degrees of advance but rather the intake closing point. I believe the
sweet spot for the ls engine is 43-45 ABDC.

Yeah, heads are in the future. So you say go with 2* advance? What about lift? Probably right at or below .600 right?

That is a more correct answer. Advance is chosen to fine tune the valve events. But part of the trick is to know the corrolation between IVC value, the rest of VEs and the powerband you're trying to produce.

For the 228/232 I like 110 LSA and 109 ICL, IVC 43, IVO/EVC are equidistant from TDC.

IMO, PREDATOR-Z has a very good understanding of what combinations work best. He did the custom specification for my current cam(227/231 111 lsa+2 with .614"/.617"lift on LSL lobes) and it has worked great!

I'd seriously consider any recommendation he give you.

Send him a pm if you want to go into a lot more detail on your cam specs.
