Just got off the phone with Martin. Bought a cam! We'll be putting an SNS Stage 2 237/235 on 110+3 in this bitch. I think it may be the first V1 with a SNS cam. Can't wait!

Tamer,

It was great talking to you finally! With your high flow cats, resonators and exhaust you have in place your worries with the idle characteristics will be put to bed when you hear it fire up. I am confident it will sound like the GTO that I showed you the idle clip of on Youtube while we were talking over the phone.

Ok thats what I thought. The video says Stage 2 but the description with the graphs says Stage 1, figured it was just a typo.

Yours is the only one that has had any valve train noise that we have installed. I still believe that the push rods are too short. It also seems to be that the cars running the SNS cams that are experiencing some valve train noise are using LS7 lifters. I am beginning to believe that they are just a noisier lifter.

If you watch all the videos I have posted of any cam we've installed at our shop there is not one with audible valve train noise aside from yours. The silver GTO we did a Ai 232cc H/C package with LS7 lifters and a Stg. 2 TM on is quiet as can be. It seems to be hit or miss on the LS7 lifters.

Tooley has mentioned to me multiple times that the machining tolerances for stock lifters can vary tremendously thus allowing bleed down to occur while the engine is running. This will add substantial noise to the valve train. I've got a guy that just bought a cam package from me that is going to be using the BTR SLR lifters. I'll report back on how the valve train sounds once installed.

We're extremely backed up right now with work and getting cars out of the shop on time, but I'd like for you to bring it back to let Jonathan finish the tune for one. Then possibly try a longer push rod and/or a set of the BTR SLR lifters if the customer I mentioned above gives me some data on them that shows them to be quietier and worth the expense.

I guess im the lucky one...LOL
i agree. yeah I understand this time of year but can you look at the shop schedule and let me know when a good time "might" be?
i dunno about the added expense on the lifters ...Im with you I think it may be the PR's
and yeah the tune needs to be tweeked but J knows about that.

Hey Martin. I've got an 01 LS1 & T56 in my Nissan 240sx with AI 226cc 243 65cc heads, GM MLS headgasket, and a Comp XR281HR cam (228/230 .571 .573). Springs are PSI maxlifes but I do have some comp 26926 springs waiting to go in. Just ran 12.1 @ 122 last night with a 1.900 60' and looking to dip into the 11s without slicks. What cam would you recommend? I mostly road course and drift the car with the occasional outing to the drag strip. It's also a daily driver, but I don't have a problem changing out springs when required. I'm going to be changing the oil pump to a high pressure unit as my pressure drops pretty low after a good stint on the road course (30 mins), so I figured I'd throw in a new cam while I was at it. Thanks!

I would highly recommend the LS1 SNS Stage 3 camshaft for your application. Since you have a very lightweight vehicle, making every last ounce of torque down low possible isn't of the highest priority. The Stage 3 SNS cam will make more average and peak torque than other cams of similar durational figures and will beat out the stock cam easily. Paired with your Ai 226cc heads you'll have a very powerful combination. Well over 400rwtq and 450rwhp. You'll definitely need the Comp 926 dual springs to go with the standard lobes the SNS cam utilizes. The mild lobes can be run with a bee hive easily.

Default Stage 3 SNS cam

[QUOTE=Martin@Tick;17423598]Should make for an awesome combo![
I am changing direction with my 99 ls1 Camaro from doing custom remote mount turbo build, to trading the turbo kit for a set of PRC 225 heads milled to 60cc with .675 springs and ls6 intake, with your stage 3 sns cam. I already replaced my converter to a custom fabricated 3200 stall converter and my rear gears are still stock 3.42. wondering if that stall would still be suitable for the stage 3 cam. I see you recommend 3400 to 3600 stalls and 3.73 gears or higher.

Bumped my shift light up to 6200, about the only way to know I'm that high. Tach is too slow for the pull. HPTuners shows I'm alright just how a 99 Cluster can be a pain lol.

How many miles could I expect out of my valvesprings with the SNS stg 2 mild version? I will be using Brian tooley double valve springs. And does anyone have any idea what vacuum this cam pulls? I need it for power brakes

Bsmith, please understand that aftermarket springs on aftermarket lobes do not have an expiry date stamp on them.
When you cam a car, you have to understand that maintenance increases. It is normal maintenance to test your springs once a year to see if they are still within required spec range. That is the way things "should" be done. I normally change my springs regardless after every 30K miles. I've had sets where only some were tired so I keep the good ones in case of a breakdown on raceday. BTW, I've seen duals in worse shape than singles (to say that one should check all springs and not assume that if they had duals they are automatically safe.

Yes I understand that. I will and do check valvesprings every year although I do like to research camshaft and valvesprings combinations and see what kind of mileage and performance people get out of them before I use them in my builds.

The parts you've chosen are good quality, Martin will steer you right and the BTR springs are excellent (this of course assuming all is properly installed).
