Finally pulling the trigger on parts!
If I was planning on pushing more power or running it locked up, I'd look at a triple.
As it stands, the efficiency of this convert is great, so the slippage isn't going to eat up much power on the big end.
Why? Well, I figure when I go to measure, I'm going to need to flycut anyway. So, might as well do some finishing touches on the heads, mill down, and flycut.
That opens up the door to other cam choices as well. But also optimizes the current cam setup... Hmm.
I like surprises

At that point I need to either port what i have, or get a 102 ported and finally be DONE. Or the ITB set-up. Still waiting on more info from that.
Tooley has that 235/242 111 cam as well. Although, that sort of goes against my f Comp stance. haha
Geoff has the 234/242 on EPS lobes that I like...

I was going to go back with a EPS cam and Geoff spec'd me a 230/236 cam or something real close to that. The more I thought about it, it made more since to talk to Tooley since he was at TEA when my heads were done. He spec'd me a 231/242 112+2 .610/.613(cant remember the exact lift numbers but those are close)
He said since I'm running a stock size exhaust valve that I need to hang the exhaust valve open longer to evacuate the cylinder. His stage III cam is real close to that, 235/242 111+3. He said with the port work done and the size of the intake valve I don't need as much duration. He then started talking about cam events and completely lost me.
He makes 460rwhp with that cam in a stock LS6. Stock intake, no port work with headers.
So with all the extra **** I have I "hope" to be a little north of that number but we will see.
The only issue I have with going with Tooley is the Comp thing. No one has ever been able to give me a definitive answer regarding my cam failure so I'm leery about going back with them.
When I take my heads off I also considered taking them to Brian. Just depends on how much it is and how much extra scratch I have at the time.
Didn't mean to high jack your thread Jake. We are running very similar combo's and just wanted to pass along some info from Brian.
And the reason I like EPS is Geoff is who I'm going to be using for the tune in all likelihood, since I can get the car to him and his dyno.
There are other options as well. I've talked to Martin about some baseline dyno tunes and one of the Tick custom cams on a Bullet Core.

Regardless of what cam I get I'm going to go with the BTR lifters and a timing chain from him. He's been very helpful and I would feel like a crook since he's helped me so much and I went somewhere else to buy all my parts.
Brian uses LSL/XE in most of his configurations from what I've seen.
Another option is Allan Futral. Since he has always used Cam Motion and has his own spec lobes as well. They've always made good power.
Have you called Brian yet?
So now, I need to find a competent machine shop to mill down here, and then I may go with either the EPS 234/242 112 if there isn't a long lead time. Otherwise, the Tooley 235/242 111 is on the shelf, and I could have this week.
Looks like I might have an excuse to pick up an angle drill now too to reach the back cylinders...

When you tell him the valve sizes you have he makes them .03 bigger for a good smooth transition. (The beveled portion)
If we had the same valve sizes I'd go in on half with you. I'm 2.02 / 1.6
Tooley is my buddy and all, but I just don't see that 460rwhp number being 100% genuine.
There is no magic cam that will give you 30rwhp more than what most combinations make even with a guy named Brian Tooley behind the cam specs.
