Default Dyno numbers or track times for Hotcam without longtubes?

Anybody here got dyno numbers or track times for a Hot cam install without longtubes?

If you think the Hot cam is a POS, please give suggestions for another shelf cam with similar duration and lift specs. I don't want anything over .550 lift or more than 224 duration at .050 intake and I would like atleast 6 deg more duration on the exhaust to make up for no longtubes. The car is an auto, so I would like a 114 lobe sep if possible.

Also, if you was putting a hot cam in, would you go for the comp 918's just for insurance, or use the LS6 springs.

What do you guys think of this Comp Cam at Thunder Racing? Do you think it would make more power than the Hot cam?

63-LS-218/224 Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 218 / 224 .527 / .534 114 LSA 1600-6500 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range torque with good top-end power. Computer Tuning Required. Works well with Crane 1.8 Roller Rockers.

What mods do you have. I would go with a stall before you get a cam.

The hot cam is an old cam. There are cams out there now that will provide more power and will idle a lot better. The TR 224 is a good cam along with the TSP228 cam. If you limt your self to deration and lift you will limt your power. Do you have a HP goal for the GTO?

As for spings just go with the 918s because the ls6 spings are only good for the ls6 cam.

350rwhp would be nice. There are lots of good cams out there, my biggest problem is very few of them are split patterns that favor the exhaust. I wouldn't mind some lope at idle, but I don't want anything crazy.

I get the feeling that anything that has .560+ lift is pretty hard on the valve springs, and makes quite a bit of valvetrain noise. This car only has 1300 miles on it now, and might have 2500 by the time I get the cam in it. I don't want any durability problems....

this is Patrick G's recommendation of a cam for stock manifolds. he had great success with it: 217/225 .588/.588 113LSA, 115ICL. just run some 918's and your good to go.

I have a bud with a 2000 T/A M6 car with Hot Cam/ZO6 springs, Jet Hots, lid/K&N, shifter, Nittos, and sfc and he runs 12.50s and put down 364. He now has a ported TB, pulley, and torque arm -lookin forward for the the next dyno thrash and for the tracks to open back up !

Don't be afraid of .588 lift. Cam Motion lobes are very spring friendly and they'll rev to the moon with Comp 918 springs.

If I was going to run a mild cam it would be the Comp 275(222/224-.566/.568-112).

its an older grind cam, but the numbers look like what u want... Lunati's 55005: 222/230-.534/.544-114... u could also have a custom made, like a comp XE grind 222/230-.566/.574-114

If you want to stay within your original numbers, get the TR220 or the B1 cam. Both will idle very well, run decent without tuning, and put down more HP than the Notcam. Also, LS6 springs will work with both.

In answer to original question, HC stock manifolds,79 degree weather crappy 2.0-1.9 60 ft. on stock GY F1's ran consistant 12.7-12.9's @ 113's. 7-8 passes never changed. The HC was the only change from stock but the weather was 10-15 degrees cooler, stock was 13.4's at 107. Not bad IMHO. for a cam only change.

I have the Hotcam in my car and I actually like it! Idle is pretty good now that the car is tuned a little better and power is around what I was looking for at the time. Don't have to worry about changing springs either. I know I have headers but I dynoed 385 at the wheels thru a Moser 12 bolt with 4.11's (POS).
