98 LS1 lifters swap or not
I was going start my cam swap today but I forgot to get the lifters do you think I will be ok if I just use the stockers I heard the 98 aren't as good as the 99 and newer . What do you think

You realize that you will be taking the heads off regardless. That is the only way to get to them on LS1,2,6. But if you are going to do it I would get the Comp Cams OE replacements.

Yeah totally man. Once the heads are off, you just unbolt the plastic retainer and they pull right out. It's too easy not to do. I say if you've got the money. More quality insurance in your motor knowing you have better/newer parts in there. Especially one's that are known to fail on occasion.

Change them out. Changed to a .590 lift situation and I didn't replace the lifters on my 98. Wrong move, and had to do it after. #4 intake had the plunger on a 30 degree tilt. I used the GMPP LS7 lifters for ~$120 from Jim Pace.
