Default G5x4 guy's running heads(need a little help)

Just wondering what heads guy's are running with the G5x4? I'm currently runnig that cam with stock heads. Want too make sure that if I do purchase heads in the next month or so I don't hit valves. I would really rather not fly cut if I don't have too. I've heard of it but have never done it. THANKS

I was planning on getting the Trickflow 215heads, and I'm hoping that they clear with .040 head gasket.

sorry man but you are going to have to flycut the pistons. I have mine flycut already. I am waiting on getting a set of heads milled down to 59CCs.

Flycutting will insure you a little bit of safety margin if you happen to miss a shift.

ETP's should fit...I had .150 intake clearance(59cc head) with .040 on my G5X3/114.....

I wouldn't imagine the cam to eat up .050 more clearance, but correct me if I'm wrong as I've thought about making the change to the G5X4.....

I don't know exactly how to go about fly cutting. Can anyone just elaborate alittle bit for me. I know what it is don't get me wrong!

I would really not flycut but if it's not too hard to do well then I guess I have too.

I've heard that the Trick Flows give you a little more clearance than the stock heads,so therefore I don't really see a problem with clearance with the right gaskets. I know stock valves aren't 2.04''intake but they should still clear. LG told me that with the .040 cometic head gasket and the AFR 205's they clear with the X4.

That is if you don't mill the heads to bump up SCR and DCR.

Search for "flycut" with my name as the poster. I've described it a few times. It was simple, and I'm a ***** for not flycutting on my first h/c swap.

I agree. I did it last winter. It was a PITA but well worth it not having to worry about cam selections again.

I don't plan on having the heads milled, it would be nice to increase my compression a little but the heads should be a good enough increase in power. LG told me they rent out their flycutting tool. Apparently they use ls1 heads with out the valves and have the flycutting tool with it. So I might look into it or find a cheaper way to get it done.

I thought it was pretty simple. And since you're replacing heads, you'll already have an old one. Just buy the tools from Isky Racing Cams and do it. You'll not regret it. It makes all the difference in the "power under the curve" as well as just plain old drivability when you run proper DCR.

I noticed this drivability difference too, my car find idle easier now. I haven't driven it yet, but it idle's way better now, and I haven't touched the tune. if your not milling tsp makes a set of stage one heads that have a competition valve job that sinks the valve .018 into the head those would work with a .040 cometec i think.

I believe that they told me in a thread that if anything, sinking the valves hurts flow. You'd be better off to flycut.

Yeah, and stupidly expensive cost, and a ton of work to get the accessories to fit. No thanks. Not when I can flycut and be done.

move acessories? You dont have to move anything or touch the alternator for the trickflows

but you can flycut your pistons and make less power, its your car lol.

Make less power from flycutting? That's a new one. Explain that, because flycutting allowed me to mill my heads more to make more power. Not less.

And there's a guy on here who had tons of problems with a TFS installation. He posted on it.

It don't matter too me what people say, I still want the TFS heads! Now why is it one person says they offer plenty of valve clearance, even milled, and others say I have too flycut no matter what? Does anyone really know or they just think they know what they're talking about?
