MTI 382ci LS6 All-Bore Dyno Results

This is an interesting graph for all of you that have considered swapping from an A4 to an M6 tranny. One of the local guys, Anthony H., recently had MTI build him:
All-bore 382ci (stock crank, 4.100" resleeved block)
Stage 3 LS6 heads (I=2.08" E=1.60")
MTI "R1" hydraulic cam (232/237 .574/.574 114)
MAC headers w/custom 3" Y-pipe
Borla catback
His car was orignally an A4, as the lowest hp graph shows (converter locked up on the dyno run). Last week he had MTI convert the car to an M6 (with dual-disk Mcleod) and look at the results!

results:
480.1 rwhp & 464.5 ft-lbs with an M6 (cutout open)
470.6 rwhp & 457.3 ft-lbs with an M6 (thru closed Borla)
457.2 rwhp & 441.6 ft-lbs with an A4 (cutout open)
Needless to say, Anthony is MUCH happier with the M6 and how much more fun this car has become
480 rwhp from a hydraulic cammed 382ci. FUN!

Talk about bang for the buck...those are huge numbers with a stock crank...better than some superstrokers....I'm suprised the hp jumped that much from a locked converter to a mn6...was he using a lightweight converter or stock?

Just like I thought. There were alot of people saying this wouldnt happen back when I asked this question.I knew they were wrong.
Now its been proven.
Once and for a 6sp will ALWAYS dyno better than a auto with the same package.Thank the LS1 Gods for proven it.
Bottem line that is a stout setup.
382 IMO is the way to go.

Thanks for the info Tony. I, too, always said that there's no way an A4 can dyno as high as an M6, holding the mods constant. I'll still take my slushbox and fat stall.
That is some MAJOR bang-for-the-buck! Just as a comparison, I managed 427 RWHP in March '01 with a locked converter in my T/A w/ the Lunati stroker kit, even using the same cam. MTI's all-bore made an additional 30 RWHP over my setup! I think I just needed a nice set of MTI's heads to make the setup scream.

Hey Trevor, your old silver T/A is back at MTI. It currently dynos at 500 rwhp with the converter locked and the MTI 422ci. The owner wants even more now, I hear it is about to get a TH350/brake setup and possibly a solid roller
That car still looks beautiful, you would still be proud of it.

Nice numbers. I was one of the first promoters of LS1 all-bore technology long ago. Nice to see them finally coming of age. Now if we could get some number on one with LQ9 heads and forced induction.

Damn, he didn't last long w/ "just" a 422 cid! LOL! I would love to see the car again. Does he still have the ROH wheels on it? I think he should let me make a pass in it once it's all done, for old times sake. I had a LOT of fun with that car, but I can honestly say that I don't miss it all that much. I jumped in too deep way too early in the game, and technology w/ LS1 stuff was passing me by faster than I could update! That gets too damned expensive, too. My SS with a set of heads will surpass my T/A's ET with the 383! This will be the SECOND time that a TH350 makes it into that car. It's gonna be fast as hell!

Sometimes it shows up on ROH wheels, sometimes on the Pro Stars. Its definitely a FINE looking car Trevor. And you are right, you jumped in too early on the stroker setup

Just out of curiosity what would be more cost effective all bore 382 or a stroker kit. I had someone being quoted like 3k!! for just resleaving the block.Plus this does not include pistons rings etc. By the time you are done I would say that both kits are equall in pricing.
Just a matter of which would perform better. Does anyone know what sleeves they use for this set up.

The sleeves are about $500-600 a set (custom). The machining to the block is probably about a grand or less.
But, with the bigger bore you unshroud the valves more and have the potential to make more HP than with an all-stroke 382ci with a stock bore.

great numbers, I always knew the all bores had the potential to make the power, I wish I could have more time to play with mine, the best it made was 457/434, and I miss that power

If this is a single cut out setup, theres 10-20rwhp more left in there from going to unbolted exhaust.
Our reverse split stock head guy that did 410rwhp did 401rwhp before dropping exhaust and adding 6" extensions on the collectors.
These numbers challenge some of the 422 numbers out there.

Damn those are some nice numbers on that 382. Congrats to Tony and the guys at MTI for really promoting this all-bore setup - the all-bore 382 has to be one of the best bang-for-buck setups going
Now, if only I could come up with $9000...

He said it had just came from MTI. I was very impressed with the car!!! I wish he would have made a nitrous pass!!!! I would have liked to have seen some single diget numbers.
