I don't know on the alternator pulley as I don't have any personal experience with them on a LS1. Might be a good mod as it seems like the LS1's don't have the same issues as the old Mustang's did.

I stayed with the crank pulley as I wanted to be as safe as possible and the last UD alternator pulley I had (on a 95 GT) was an absolute nightmare.

All you have to do is mention alternator pulley and Mustang in the same sentence and I get a nervous twitch!

I have never fully understood the whole alternator pulley mess. I was under the impression that getting the alternator pulley would allow the alternator to charge BETTER, not worse. I have a buddy that has a '98 Z28 (automatic) and he got both pullies and was just perfectly fine. I'm so counfused!

I think the alternator pulley is a "hit or miss" proposition. It seems like you either have no problems or the roof falls in.

While I have a basic knowledge of how the alternator pulley works, I don't know why some do what they're supposed to and others cause you to scream and curse and throw a full can of Coke across your parent's garage and put in a hole in the sheetrock. (not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> )

I did the crank pulley(ASP).then I heard about the knock retard @5200.
So when I dyno'd ,I a-tapped it and there was no KR.
I was happy.
My understanding of the alt.pulley is that it is larger, therefore
turning the alt. slower.
I just went w/ the crank pulley.I could feel it SOTP.
I agree with RAGEman on this whole issue.(Mr. Burger also makes good points).
Good luck....Strap a tire on and hit the 11's. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Word up, dude. Sean (Bad Habit Bird) had that exact problem. He had a noticeable miss up in the RPM's. He tried everything under the sun to cure it...plug wires, injectors, etc., but to no avail. Finally he removed the ASP pulley and replaced it with the stocker and whala...no more missing. I would think the problem would be more in the installation rather than in the product itself.

This character has told us in this very thread he wanted to stay with the stock MAF, now he's been turned and wants to upgrade! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Excellent. Horsepower is certainly very addictive, isn't it? Maybe we can persuade him to get a pulley.

The track will have to be sufficiently-prepped, though, what with you having a 3500 stall from PI that probably stalls closer to 4000 and 3.73 gears. The 3700-lb. raceweight you should be coming pretty close to pushing will help you hook up, too. Good weather never hurt either. Good luck!

www.thunderracing.com

Paul has pulleys in stock and will ship one out to you today!

(OK maybe Monday, but it sounded good)

What's another $260.00? Who needs rent, food and lights when you can have more car parts!

FWIW, I have an "MTI" underdrive crank pulley on my car. But, as I understand it, MTI's are made by ASP.

If MTI had one in stock when they were doing my heads, I wouldn't have bought mine from Thunder.

But they were out so Jayson give me special permission to go spend my money somewhere else.

Once.

What exactly do you mean by your tranny "bangs?" When Cartek did your tuning, did they mess with the shift-firmness?

I mean, it's not like you can see it. I don't know what would fix that. Are the bolts tightened and all that good stuff?

What is this "my whole car is stock" mess? A heads/cam package doesn't take away your stock status? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

WOOOOOOOOO!!!! I assume you were referring to stock suspension. Which direction do you want to go with suspension? All-out straight-line performance or what? Also, running mid 11's or high 10's on the spray means you would need a rollcage, unless you can find a track that would overlook your lack of one. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
