Default LG Motorsports G5 vs. FAStech F1 cam

Well folks - I think the dyno chart speaks for itself. Dyno this morning with the G5 and full bolt-ons (stock Ti exhaust - STOCK LS6 HEADS). Temp was 92 degrees. Then we swapped the cams, only the cams, and dynod again, temp was 105 degrees.

LG Motorsports G5 vs. FAStech F1 cam

G5 - 403.3/383.0
F1 - 420.5/385.3 Specs: 230/226 .591/.569 112

On the highway the power is incredibly more, it definitely surprised me...pleasantly, I might add.

The MTI "X1" and the FAStech "F1" are basically the same cam. Nothing to be gained LOL!

That didn't take very long Jim . Once again congrats on the numbers, and thanks for doing the swap, it looks like in the end it was definately worth it

Wow! That's one hell of a gain! Thanks for sharing the #'s. It's very helpful for someone that's looking to do another cam swap. I may have to come up with a G6. hehe

Congrats on the #'s. How does the F1 idle compared to the G5? The stock titanium exhaust flows better than people think. Didn't MTI test one on a 422 and only gain 10-12 RWHP by running dual cutouts? That's pretty nice when you're pushing 500 RWHP!

It actually idles a little better, it still needs the idle bumped to 950 to smoothe it completely out - but it definitely is easier to drive around town than before. I think the idle set to 950 would have the same result betwen both cams though...

Folks are getting 6-8 hp on stock motors with the Borla Stinger...and it only weighs 4 lbs. more - I may go with those, especially since I can sell the Ti piece and break even

Tony and Louis,

I am sure you both know this, but I will say it anyway....just because two camshafts may have similar lift/duration numbers doesn't mean alot. You have to take into consideration ramp rates, which lobes, retard/advance ground in, etc.

mir, lol.

MTI's cam is likley XE-R ramps. Matt's cam was going to be XE-R intake and XE exhaust....and just by lift numbers i think im right. The difference in lift/duration between the two is more semantics than ramp differences. and both probably have 4 degrees ground in i bet. maybe 2 or 1.

However, as soon as I post PROOF that this cam makes more power than the G5 without giving up any low end power you immediately start making unnecessary comments.......

Just so you and everyone else can know.......The F1 was ordered long before the specs on the X1 were ever released.

Bottom line the F1 is cheaper, has a better idle, and makes more power than the G5.......All you have to do is look at the graph

Whats sad is your dyno looks like my dyno all the way to 5600rpm and then the F1 cam just keeps climbing. Now my dyno looks exactly like the G5 cam dyno. Maybe I need to do a cam swap..
