Default How do I remove my crank sprocket?

I have a new Comp timing set I'm installing with my H/C, and I need to remove the stock crank sprocket. Anyone know how?

Three jaw puller. Just went through the same thing. The puller I had would not work the jaws were too thick. Went to Autozone and the puller they had in stock worked perfect. Good luck!!

Damn; the one I'm using is from Auto Zone and the jaws keep sliding out from behind the teeth!
Also, how did you get the new one back on?

Use the law of thermal dynamics. Once you get the sprocket off and you need to put it back on just put it in your oven for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Metal expands...this is what I did with mine. Once it's nice and hot take it out on a tray and use an oven mit. Have a friend or someone just put some oil on the sprocket shaft and slide the baby back on. You may have to use a LIGHT tap of a rubber mallet or so to put it back on all the way but mine went on easy as pie. Hope that helps

no need for that, just slide the new sprocket on and then slide your old one on and tap it with a hammer. The old sprocket wont go on far enough to catch and will very very easily seat your new sprocket all the way. You don't even need to tap very hard. I just finished installing my rollmaster saterday.

For the really stubborn ones, a bearing splitter on the oil pump hub and then use a old crank bolt on the crank and a 2jaw puller to pull it right off.
