I see one ARE's website they sell sleeved blocks for up to a 442ci application......
Another individual recently put a 454ci LS1 into his Impala.....
As of late I haven't seen our engines get much bigger except for a super-rare 436ci motor (i.e.Quicken).
I "heard" of a 488ci LS1 being built a while back....so have we hit a plateau or are we just seeing a temporary break in action?
With a C5R block, how much bore could one achieve?
I want to see some 8.0L+ LS1's

well, the only problem there is that we run out of cyllinder head to support that much bottom end. will it run? yeah sure. but will it make impressive numbers for the CI? probably not. it would be cool to see a C5R headed 555ci LS1 on the junk though
but a 4.560 bore is pushing the envelope, literally..

I'm sure head porting will get better in time.....flow numbers can reach 330cfm on the intake side so it seems....so hopefully as flow #'s increase so will potential

What alot of peeps are doing is taking the 6.0L iron LS1 block, boring it and sleeving it and make I think 454. But these guys run 9's NA with the right setup. It is nutty.

At some point you can't over-bore them any farther because the cylinders would intersect each other. I'm sure there is limitations like that on stroking also; probably interference with the camshaft. As already mentioned, you are still stuck with small-block sized heads with your big-block like displacement, so the engine can't run to it's full potential . . . unless you go to forced induction.

I'm not currently building a 471 but I was thinking about doing one for my street car (that or a 460 depending on how comfortable we are with pushing the sleeve size.)

I know two guys that are going to build a 454 and a 460. I can't wait to see what they will put down. My 422 seems small in comparison. The 6.0L heads I have seen flow 350 cfm on the intake, but a different intake manifold is needed. Maybe try out the new cartek manifold.

There wont be any chance of getting more than 4.155 bore (maybe 4.160 if you get custom pistons) as the sleeves are already siamesed and the spacing between the cylinders is very narrow.
