Default Broken Tella Terra... Again

Me and my wife went to get some dinner this evening and on our way home I heard a familiar ticking sound. I pulled the valve cover when I got home and found a rocker arm broke. This makes 2 broken Intake rockers and 1 cracked exhaust rocker.

Is anyone else having bad luck with these rockers?

That's why I never installed my set years ago.

I purchased a set 4 years ago and sold them a few months later after reading a bunch of horror stories.

Are you sure your valvetrain geometry is correct?

I have beat the crap out of mine and no issues. Man that is weird I agree with post above to check for proper wipe and geometry. I did have to shim mine inorder for it to be correct. If I wouldnt have it would have put it in a bind and a failure would be inevitable.

You may want to check for coilbind.

Scorpions are sounding better and better. Granted, they initially had issues to, but those have supposedly been resolved.

Cam is a custom grind Solid roller Cam motion 257/266 .649/629 112 on a set of Morel tie bar lifters. The rockers are shimmed to correct the geometry and get the wipe pattern where I wanted it. I'm running PAC-1521, We shimmed the springs are well but i cant remember off the top of my head what the seat pressure and open pressure ended up at. Ill have to pull the build sheet I did up on the heads. The springs are no where close to coil bind nor am I running into valve float.

To be honest with you, it appears that the rockers reached their fatigue rate and sheered.

You're brave to run those rockers on a solid roller. Fatigue on the AL and eventually they let go. With no oil cushion like a hyd it isnt surprising.

Negative, It is custom Cam Motion ground on some of their milder soild roller lobes. FYI they are about on par with Comps LSL just a little more aggressive off the seat.

I've talked to a few people now and from what i've gathered they had a bad batch of rockers. These where purchased back in Late 09 when I had my LS2 H/C set up. I put 1300 miles on them before upgrading to the big motor.

FYI you can not run a solid set up on a non adjustable rocker... There would be no way to adjust lash

I have the adjustable version of that rocker on a solid roller with just over 600lbs open pressure and no issues yet.
