Don't do that. I'm just saying that the guy who has the current record was only 15 HP higher than the second place set up, and the difference was the heads. And I'm assuming he tried race gas first, and it didn't do much. Too easy a thing to try before doing a head swap for 15 HP. That's going from 686 to 701. I was only saying that if the guy who has the record couldn't find 20 more, then it's not as easy as it sounds on paper.

... 93 was 680. Ask him....I did this math and asked him long ago.... reason for the cam swap hyd to SR and Darin's heads. IDK. But if I went from 11.7 to 12.7 and about 100 octane vs 93.......you mean to tell me 685 is the best I could expect....Get a rope and a tree

It's no knock on either guy.... And I know and deal with either. It's added compression and better gas. What really woke that Lil bad MF'ing 427 up...Again both combos are great.

Yes I did. But here's my point... He could have bumped compression and run higher octane gas -- which isn't always going to net power. Somtimes it loses power due to slower flame front. Unless it's oxygenated. Now where can i get an oxygenated, high octane fuel? If only someone blended 15% gasoline with 85% ethanol commercially...

The problem with the bet you made is it isn't out there. You can't find someone who was at 680 who did those things and hit 700, because THERE IS ONLY ONE GUY WHO HAS HIT 700 RWHP IN A NA SBE LS7. So, unless you build it, you'll never see the data. All you need to do is get those GG heads he got rid of, a used LS7 block, cam it 260/276-111+3 solid roller. Get a 405 lobe lift and run 1.85 rockers. Run it 13.5:1, and whatever intake and fuel you want, and I'll bet you you beat that 701 number, but not by much. you'll find that you gained a lot less than you thought.

680 went 690 with a full point and nothing else changing just heads. Better yet ask ER how much a full point is worth and the gas used...simple as that a guy we both know. I say 680 would be around 690 with adding a point of compression and 100 octane.

8-12 hp for 1 point, 3-5 hp for half point

100 octane helps only if you need the octane. 93 might be enough.

Can't bet. First, you're not stupid. Second, you're not going to build the motor just to prove the point and neither am I. Here's what I think would happen. You'll gain a handful from the compression. With the cam as big as it is, dynamic compression still be under 8.7. May be OK on 93. if it is, then 100 octane is neutral. No way he got 680 on a garbage tune. Fun discussion though

You can learn alot from s dummy...Bryan said some big names really don't make power and they've tested all makes...2 names used not intended.

All three of them said 20hp? Because you originally said 20hp.

Sorry I'm a pessimist lol. Been there done that too many times when the 5-10 here and 15-20 there only adds up to half what you expected (or nothing at all).

I'd rather expect 5-10 and be happy the time it shows 15-20.

Clean...Sweep! Higher octane fuel gives a better timing window ...not to mention the added point of compression.

I never did state how much was to be expected...most gave a @ the crank # then reference drive line losses..so yeah 20's about right....Bryan had no ? about it....and Knew the build...So there's the I gave them the answer.....out the window. asking a known builder who's Honest and not out for bs sales would give the same answer..... with out a doubt or ? ER ain't came yet or sent a pm? Stupid of me.... I forgot where I'm at... Walk to the light......or the Truth.
