Yeah Pontiac was a bit of an anomaly and really more of a mid block instead of a big block.

Yeap and there Dirt cheap when they 1st came out bare casting were $175 thru Scoggy on Spur 327* I was going to Lubbock, Tx. all the time and my route changed and wasn't going up there anymore and didn't want to pay for shipping. Went by a local Chevy Parts dept. Knapp Chevrolet and made a friend, they were being sold for $215+ tax each bare and told him Scoggy sells them for $175 ea and didn't want to pay for shipping. Bought Mark a nice big lunch and you get the rest I paid $175.each no tax. That's why I recommend anyone with a limited budget build big and use factory Ls3 heads with a nice custom Cnc. Just think ER racing factory Ls3 heads on a 427 and your onto something just bigger....

Too many to count Edelbrock has like 5, MSD,FAST, Holley High Ram + the Sniper, & CID.
I just Hope FAST makes runners for the others. If not guys should go to the MSD for higher RPM if that's what there looking for in a low profile package.

Darth about the Pontiac I really *like the *Buick it is and was a big block in a small package compared to All other Big Blocks. But it Doesn't have the supporting hardware to make big Hp: Heads and oiling are #1 on the list.

That's just how it goes brother. There's a guy who did his own shorter FAST Ls7 runners some time ago while FAST was making/selling them for the Ls3.

HioSSilver
I may have to do my own short runner ls7 fast.
Cool thing is I'd base the runner length from the LS3 FAST runners. Good joke HioSSilver, what would the Oldsmobile be considered if the Pontiac is a FE? LOL!

I also made some calls again today after reading....Dart block it is for choice.
Cylinder Wall Thickness, min. ................................….. .275" @ 4.185"
With a 4.220 bore still leaves more wall thickness .235 than the DART SHP: .230 wall thickness @ 4.185. Also spoke with the guys @ MLS they said that the 4.250 bore gasket is sold with a disclaimer and they will or don't sell it and they don't back it. The most MLS is willing to warranty is there 4.225 gasket set. And if you EVER ask or wanted to Know, the CGI Dart: Ls Next Iron block goes for a Cool..........$5000.00 and takes 10 weeks to make.

Idk......what's worse than a fe?.....lol
Oldsmibile be a Y block

Good idea on checking runner length of the mid runner ls3. But the dude that shortened his ls7 runners seemed to be in the ballpark.

That's pretty much impossible with a 4.4" bore spacing. Probably a typo, should be .215" minimum wall thickness at 4.185" bore.

KCS I hope your wrong....Not in a bad way. I did call Dart also but you can never be to careful. If your right KCS I won't do nothing or think of building nothing. I looked and liked the Dart,Titus and World Products Ford Windsor blocks and some can go to 4.200 to *4.220 I think on the the new Titus.* Priced CHI 3v pro heads and a 4.170 Eagle crank *dirt cheap again dirt cheap*Decided that I'd stay LSX and use RHS heads if the Dart is to be used. That would be crazy to move to a Ford and I have LSX on my right forearm and it's HUGE. I'm down to 2 blocks or resleeve the 5.3. I just want to do something different not the typical 4.200 or 4.185 bore combination then choose the crank size. I may have to just stop looking.

Ls Next Iron block
