So you still have the same lifters in the new refreshed engine?

Also, what do you guys think of Howards Pro max direct lube mechanical roller lifters?
I found a set here in Australia quite cheap and there is also an ebay special on these too and this will reduce the price even further.
Upon researching at them, these appear to be rebranded Morel 5425 Ultra Pro lifters.
Cam Motion also sell this lifter under their own name too I am sure.
It also says that the recommended seat pressure is between 250-350lb and open spring pressure of 600-850lb
I have about 190-200lb on the seat and 510lb of open spring pressure. Will this be an issue?

Even the standard mechanical lifters are quite stout too. The seat and spring pressure is more suited to my specs but anyway.

It's the nature of a low lash solid. If lifters made more noise than others I'd think something is loose in it

Full on race solids will run 0.020-0.030 lash. They have even more extreme ramp rates off and on the seat. With that much lash they are not nearly as quiet.

I emailed a seller here who sells the Howards Pro max solid lifters.
He says you need to meet the recommended seat pressure and open pressure requirements for them to work. (250 on seat and 600 open)
Is this right?
The reason I ask this, is because Cam motion sells a morel lifter with axle oiling and there was no mention of needing to meet spring and seat pressure requirements.
Would appreciate some info.

search eBay oz for: Isky ISK205-RH

seen too many oiling issues (bearing failures) in factory block LS's with aftermarket tie bar lifters without bushed lifter bores.. caused by losing pressure at the lifter bores from the lifters cut out too much (not keeping oem shape)

with the lifters above you can't go wrong, your oiling will remain as standard

That's some BS. He must have meant not to surpass the max recommended seat and open pressures

Why are they half the price compared to the tie bar version? ISK1251LSH

No
He said that these lifters will definitely only work with the advertised pressures.
So you sure it's BS?

I have no idea why engine masters has them so cheap when Isky has them listed $400 usd from memory. But I bet they imported them a few years back when our dollar was over 90cents to US dollar and just trying to sell them at a fair price. Those solid lifters retain your factory lifter tray. The only down side to them is 670 max lift before the lifter comes out of the tray. Ever seen an LS1/2/3 lifter spun in the factory tray? me neither.. and I turn my current cam only ls1 to 7500 rpm, all with 200,000+ km old factory lifters and trays. And it's not the first one either. My old 120mph in the 1/4 n/a cam/heads VTii R8 I'd shift it at 7200 all the time.. again it had factory lifters/trays, never had an issue. Anyone that has had a LS spun lifter in tray, it's the cam lobe chewing up first due to a faulty cam core, then that forces the lifter to turn.

Do your research you will find many run the solid lifters style as above to use with factory tray (cam motion and morel also offer them) and have zero issues. Many that have gone with aftermarket style tie bar lifters where the lifter is cut out too much and allows oil pressure to bleed from the lifter bores, have had bearing failures.

I'm trying to help you out so I don't read another "i spun a bearing" thread on here. And no I'm not a workshop or a parts seller, I don't make money from working on peoples cars or selling parts. Just my 2 cents. You don't have to listen to it.

I haven't used them personally, but how can a solid roller lifter NOT work with less seat and open spring pressure??????? It won't know the difference. More spring pressure will just put more stress on the rollers.

That definitely is strange.
When I was speaking with Bob at cam motion he cautioned for me to not use solid lifters with the factory trays.
He recommended the axle oiled lifters with tie bars.
Either the morel or the crane version.
Valve lift for me will be at .660.
I also just heard word from my tuner.
He contacted a camshaft company that sells their own lifters here in Australia.
These are made in Japan by Morel.
They are bushed and have a 225lb seat pressure rating and 550lb of open spring pressure. 7000rpm+ capability
I am told for street use with a solid roller it's best to go bush so you get longevity.

No doubts that a bushed axle oiled tie bar lifter is the best option. I just won't run them in a oem block without bushed lifter bores. Each to their own. If the people who make and sell the lifter are telling you they will work then I won't argue with it.

Below is a Johnson LS tie bar lifter known for their reliability .. note how they've kept the outside of it as close as possible to the oem lifter design. If you see how big the oil holes are in the factory lifter bores, you will know what I'm saying. As the lifter moves up and down, if the lifter design isn't spot on, it can uncover the oil passage and bleed too much oil pressure, causing lack of pressure to your bearings. Which is what has actually happened to people and many don't even realise it's the lifters that caused their spun bearing/s. LG motorsports figured this out years ago. Apparently it's the worst when using smaller base circle cams.
