It does not change Borts point, but wanted to make sure the record was correct on who did what with which heads.
Ah yes I got the heads mixed up.
How much rwhp should I expect with Tony's heads?
Would it also be a good idea to modify the stall converter to a lower stall speed too?

I routinely hit 7300 even just clowning around on the street. I never tracked the hydraulic set up, but I wish I had.

What gets lost is all the changes combined moved the rpm higher. And everyone goes -oooo solids did A and hydros did B- and in a different thread its - ooooo long runners did A and short runners did B.

Combination > individual parts

On solids my power peak was right near 7k. On hydros it was 6500. Peak at 7k, I shift at 7800, try to land right on peak torque and ride it down. In that case it was 5200 rpm peak

BUT..... 227/235 vs 237/245 cam.... msd vs fast.... short belt mod, crank scraper, blah blah blah.

I shy away from claiming what power it will make because there are too many details not in my control. I do know that any of his heads will easily support 500+. The rest is in the combination.

As to stall, no do not restall to a lower stall.

Would you rather make 530 on the dyno and run 10.7 in the 1/4 or make 490 and run 10.3 in the quarter?

What I was meant to say was is it a good idea to lower the stall speed withT heads because of the strong low and mid range torque?
Or keep it as is?

I would keep the stall higher unless it is ****-loose and street driven and no lockup capability.

Best case scenario you put it together and love the stall worst case is you enjoy the car a season and restall it next winter. Mamo top end should do you well. I would love to do the same but my money is on getting the car to perform before I add more power. Good luck and I hope for you to have a successful go round this time.

Lazer is a good dude and has done quite well with very little. I helped him set up his valvetrain. I would trust it to 8200 rpm without a second thought.

I cant find much on him or his business. It appears he was a SAM teacher at one point and involved in a few engine master builds. I d like to know more too, but from what I gather he took money on deposits parts and builds. Than just disappeared! Surely someone, somewhere knows more. Pretty sad story tho, especially for guys who lost big money!

Sad thing here is he prolly realized that there’s not much money to be made in the engine business. He thought that he could get rich doing what he loved, and it’s just not the case, but in a very few circumstances. Name and rep is everything in the business, just like any business. So he took the money and ran...
Smoke is thinking he will open a new shop, but I put my money him just walking in someone’s back door and doing engine stuff as an employee. Less headache and steady money, unlike owning the shop. Going this route, he will blend in to society and likely never be found again. I’ve already mentioned the name to my engine guys, just so they know who to look for, in case ole Zach comes to Ga. Same reason I got out of the engine business really. Much more money to be made doing other things. All of this is my opinion, of course.

There is lots of competition and vendors selling the same parts so of course this reduces profit margins.
I think for an engine shop to work you would need to be in a strategically placed location with expertise no one else has.
Taking someones money and running is very wrong.
If you get money for parts from a customer you should set it to the side or at least purchase the parts.
Not just run off like a thief.
